If only...

On another thread, I saw someone comment that Omega might be returning to the midsized range (~40/39mm) for their next Seamaster Professional 300m releases. Setting aside that a.) "might" was probably more of a hope than a prediction and b.) that it's been several years since the SMP300m line had a refresh,...

...this all got me thinking about watches I'd get if there were slight tweaks. For instance: I'd give Tudor all my money if the rehaut on the Pelagos 39 was like the Pelagos 42, and if it had a date window (to be fair, I have a hard time with watches that don't have date windows, but that's a topic for another date and time...get it?).

So, for the SMP300m (midsize revival?) and the Tudor Pelagos 39 (with date)...

Will we see it? Would you WANT to see it?

And are there any watches you'd buy save for one thing/tweak? What watches are missing that one thing that keeps you from pulling the trigger? Am I the only crazy person who thinks like this?

I agree with the Pelagos. Not so much the date window but definitely the rehaut.
What I’d love to see is a a Rolex explorer 1 inverted with a white dial and black fonts.

I quite like chunky dive watches, but I'm with you (and @WatchN )on the Pelagos (but keep the date off). I would love to have seen a slightly smaller Seamaster 300 (in the Heritage line), if that came in at 39mm like the 1957 models... and then de-bling please, brush not polish - and while you're at it shorten the lugs a little, yep, that's it, perfect.

Specifically on the SMP300m gradual evolution seems to be the way to maintain value and interest, it could go a little smaller I suppose, I would appreciate a bit of modernisation to the bracelet.

I am really looking forward to what comes from Oris in the Divers 65 line with cal400 as this presumably gets rolled out - very nice smaller slimmer skin-divers.

To add to that @danmitch I would like to see that Pelagos 39 in the same matte blue as the OG.

I want to see this with cal400

I think the current seamasters occupy a good space in the market in terms of size. The aquaterras already have a smaller size to choose from.

How long ago did they stop doing the 36mm (TBH, I don't follow the ever changing Omega lineup)?  That was a great watch.

Follow-up for @danmitch and @WatchN: Would adding a date window AND the rehaut keep you from getting the Pelagos? I'm trying to figure out why people are so strongly against the date window (to me,...the date is part of the time...it's a "time of day" thing)

Purely personal taste - I prefer no date, but don’t feel particularly strongly either way assuming it’s nicely done. I have a feeling that with the smaller dial on the 39 and a rehaut as per the original it would be pretty crowded with a date too.

I don’t mind a date but I prefer diver dials without. If I was to ever get another sub it would also be no date.
mMy SMP has a date and it’s so subtly placed and well done so I’m not totally against them.
