BB36 or CW dune

Hi all, need your insight here.

I’ve been looking at BB36 for a while and almost pulling a trigger anytime soon, then came across CW dune on the internet the other day, that opened my eyes for other options.

What I’m looking for is a GADA watch that can be dressed up, case size max 38, budget around under 3000e.

Any recommendations? Aqua terra I tried on, felt nice but BB36 felt more right.

I wear my Tudor BB Pro most of the time just so you know.

Seiko5 DressKX and save yourself a ton of money. Ok ok fine, if you must, buy the AT. It was the winner of the unofficial WC watch bracket.

·

If you've already got a Tudor Black Bay Pro, why not get something a little different?

·

Heed your heart’s desire.

·

It seems the BB36 has been on your mind for a while so I’d say you should go for the BB36.

·

No contest get the BB36. The Dune is ok but not in the same league.

It is a good looking watch I agree. I would have considered harder if it was smaller in size.

AT is great I know. Just can't decide the colour and all, too many choices 😀

That's sort of what I was thinking, but the design of BB36 is so mesmerizing.

But that is also why I asked you guys if there are other nice watches around

For something similar

Monta Noble. Slightly larger at 38mm bit would still get the BB36 you know you want to 😉 with the gloss dial it will be a different look to the Matt dial and the more toolish look of the pro

If you’re looking for a true GADA the color should be neutral so it can go along with any outfit, any occasion. Black, blue, or white are you best options.

I was shopping for a Zenith at my regular multi brand boutique, the owner was due back from a personal matter, I was assisted by a mature woman who is sort of well known in the Toronto retail community, she does not need an income but is a veteran sales pro and was helping her friend while he was interviewing staff. She is a plus size lady was wearing a 36mm Tudor with the Smiley logo, it looked amazing and I know she has much more luxurious timepieces but the watch was perfect.

I’ve recently bought this grand seiko and I’ve worn it all day every day since. Might be worth a look for you it’s in your price point elegant enough for when you need to dress up and sporty for when you don’t. It is a 39mm but as most seikos is compact and wears really well

·

Get the BB36. Trust me that watch was on my mind for a long time and no matter where my interest strayed it always came to back to that watch and I have absolutely no regrets pulling the trigger

·

That amount can get you some great Longines, Oris or even Grand Seikos on chrono... I'm not a tudor fan.

That CW, of the new 12 would be much cooler than a basic tudor.

·

Both the Tudor and the AQ have better movements are superior finishing, no contest.

What model is that? I've not seen one with a silver GMT hand and I like it!

·

I think that since you have a BB already, stay away from Tudor. Just because the same brand. My CW is great, so I think that would be a good choice. Another option would be the 37mm Longines Spirit or another choice might be an Oris.

·

From what you describe it seems that the BB36 is the GADA you are looking for. Go for it!

He said he tried but preferred on his case the BB

·

From my own perspective is the BB 36 the exact Watch you need!

You are conflating two different issues here.

The ratchet wheel teeth breaking is an old issue with the SW200. I haven't heard of this happening for a very long time. In any event when this happens you will feel it when you wind but it won't spin the rotor.

Spinning rotor syndrome is real and usually happens when the reversing wheels in the autowinder are lubricated incorrectly or not lubricated at all. When you hand wind an automatic watch the reversing wheels should move in and out of the drive chain so that the rotor doesn't spin when you hand wind it. If the pivots become jammed for any reason the rotor will spin.

I have heard of other movements developing spinning rotor too. It can happen to almost any automatic movement from what I have heard.

I love the old dark blue Bb36, but it’s just a tad small for my tastes (for me 38mm on sports watches is perfect). If 36mm works for you, it’s amazing.

Didn’t type correctly sorry. Should have said GADA type watch that can be dressed up is what I’m looking for to be precise. So 36 is fine for me, 38 would be perfect for GADA, but I have BB pro which I got as a gift.

I love the BB36 but agree with some comments above - variety is the spice of life! Only reason I have multiple of one brand is my options are extremely limited in my area of the world (I don't like buying online).

Here quite limited too. Not much choices

Grand seiko or a chronograph like a chronoswiss in the more dressy side or heuer reissue in 1990s for the sporty side? I used to love the bb36 blue but then found the bb58 blue fits me perfectly. Thus i branch out to an enamel seiko instead of another very similar tudor.

I have small wrists so 36 is pretty good as a “dress watch”

Oris is great. I have BCPD 40mm, but wish I had 38..

Can I ask your wrist size m? Looks perfect

·

Don’t like Tudor hour hand. Out of the two I’d get the CW.

It’s the sbgn027 I believe it’s a fairly new model

Love it! Thanks!

·

I would save more money and then buy an Explorer 1 36mm.

But the Tudor BB 36mm isn't a bad choice either

·

Did this movement come from a brand or did you have a watch maker regulate it?

·

That's pretty amazing! I wonder how much of their "new in house movement" is a sw200. Even if it's an in-house clone of the sw200 their ability to acutely manage all parts will probably be a win.
