What do you think about Dan Henry?

As I explore the range of chronographs I came across Dan Henry. I like the range of designs and clearly this is a company that's interested in chronograph designs over time. I'm open to quartz movements so that didn't put me off directly.

What say the Crunchers?

Proud owner of a 1964 Panda. It’s a nice vintage inspired watch. Dressy enough and looks more expensive than it is. Wears great as well.

·

Love the looks of their 37mm Skindiver in white.

Dan Henry utilizes Seiko Meca-Quartz movements from what I understand ... they're pretty much tried-and-true as far as movements go!

I have Seiko Meca-Quartz movements in three of my watches (Seiko SSB031P1 & SSB377P1 and Pagani PD1701v3), so I definitely wouldn't have a problem with owning a Dan Henry chronograph! Besides, most of the D.H. designs are beautiful!

What's the hesitation? I say go for it big time! 😊

I don't have one but a coworker does. Don't recall the model, but my impression is positive.

I have looked at the range from time to time but haven’t bought one mainly due to shipping and import duties pumping up the price (always an irritation and only usually overcome in extreme cases).

I think it’s great to be able to look across the range a see what appeals and understand that something that appeals may well be a design from decades ago. And with DH for relatively modest cost you can enjoy a watch that takes its design cues from those older watches. But you don’t have the cost, risk, hassle and anxiety that comes with a vintage watch.

Sure if DH signposts or introduces you to something that you completely get, and you have the wherewithal, then you can go research and searching. But the dimensions of some of the original watches are pretty teeny and not really suited to today’s tastes so DH can offer something there too.

DH is based on a love for watches and they make no bones about digging up the past to make inexpensive fun watches for enthusiasts. I’m okay with that.

I really like the looks of them—classic style and quartz performance, so it's solid. If you like it, get it. While I appreciate asking the group what they think, don't worry what we think, get what you like and enjoy it.

Not worried about the group's choices but I wanted to know about folks experience with the brand. I'll learn to be clearer in my questions. I'll likely always stay on the "affordable" (quotes for relativity) end of the spectrum and I really like the aesthetics here.

Shoot, no need to be more clear; I was just talking. No need to change on my account.

I have the same watch in your picture. Great little timepiece for the money.

I have a 1962 (which happens to be my birth year—yes, I’m old) which I love. Affordable vintage vibe in reliable modern package.

I'll throw in my 2 cents. I have had 3. A silver 1964: sold. An orange 1975: sold. A panda 1964: keeper. And I may rebuy the 1975 lol.

Great, classic, quality quartz watches for the money.

I have the 62 panda. It has great feel to it, the bracelet is very nice. I echo what others have said it feels like a way more expensive watch than it is, plus is modeled after my favorite chronograph every the Universal Geneve Compax. Dan is super cool and is happy to chat if you just DM him on Instagram. I’ve had some great talks with him.

Don’t know too much about the brand, but think they have really attractive designs.

They are great watches for the era homage thing

I like a few of them but all too small. I wear a 42mm or over generally.

Ah, I'm on the opposite end of things, at 6.25 I lean into 35 -39, or at least lug to lugs of 45 or less.

·

Not a fan.

I have 3 and love them all: 1939, 1970, 1972. They’re very well made and there’s not really another brand doing such interesting and detailed vintage designs at the price point.

In general, I’ve found myself less excited by Quartz watches compared to automatic, but i still wear all the 3 regularly.

Probably one of my most worn watches

I say I need that pictured Onyx 1937.

Dang it.

Thanks SO much, Keith…
