Former Rolex AD sales associate gives his behind the scenes explanation why some wait so long to get their first Rolex at retail: a lot of background checks and vetting to combat flippers, undesirable social media influencers, etc.
Sounds reasonably legit to me 🤔

This tracks with what I’ve read before and certain super car buying processes videos I’ve seen as well.
Business gotta business 💸
Fascinating look behind the curtain! I can see both viewpoints to some degree, but I can’t imagine having to beg someone to take my money.
Nothing I haven't heard before from several people.
However, to play devil's advocate, there is no proof that this person worked as a sales associate for a Rolex AD. It's easy to parrot internet legends and play into the Rolex hate for clout, especially as a YouTuber with a financial incentive to make a trendy video. So take it with a grain of salt. 👍
Having an error trying to play it. I don't know if the problem is the WC app or somewhere else. Could you please repost it
Wow that’s really insightful. I’ve heard similar things to what he stated but the whole notion of the waiting list being fake is wild. I’m not surprised but it’s very strange that they want to do a background check on you for a watch. It’s a transaction you’re not marrying them. Who cares if you want to flip a watch.

Mildly interesting video thanks for the share
Sounds reasonable actually.
The part where he claims that they research your background was eye opening
I watched it yesterday, but only about halfway. Lost interest
So why do I want a watch from FICO?

Only you can answer that Q for yourself
I don't know a single person who has dealt with those reasons for delay. Certainly not my experience either. Not saying it's not true in some cases but it's definitely not an across the board thing.

Missing the point, these are reasons they will never make transparent to an average buyer so we would never know

Guess I am. But I'm making my own point about your words in the original post. My point being that there is no single experience, whether they are transparent or not.
Sounds pretty accurate to me. Exactly how I played the game. Super nice (I mean I usually am lol), had a special occasion, happened to have a small purchase history, followed up monthly. Both my wife and I got our dream Rolexes. Really sales associate dependent. Ours loved us and even put in those phone calls higher up to get approval.
Same game with Patek and AP.

I’ve heard this before. At Bucherer it’s policy to ask your occupation. Probably checked LinkedIn.
This makes it way easier for me.
I was going to penetrate the Rolex ranks and make an exposé by starting a blossoming friendship with a Sales Associate that would inevitably turn romantic. We'd eventually start a beautiful family with the works: holidays, memories, photos, tears, laughter, sadness, joy, etc. Once the kids turned 18 and went off to college, that's when we'd have the house all to ourselves and I'd say, "babe, it's been so long since it's been just us. Tell me about you. Tell me about your work". And once I found out everything, that's when I'd release the video and GTFO of there.

Apparently Rolex has a lot of secret shoppers they send in according to my Rolex AD. Even so, look at how many 2024 models end up on the grey market.

Correct, I never claimed there was a singular experience 👍🏽
This makes it way easier for me.

The long con!
I agree that flippers are a problem but the AD's have their share to blame as well as the Big R.

I’d pay Rolex money (spread over many years) to watch this unveil as a streaming series 👌

Right. That was my point 👍. We agree I guess

"Till the Call Do Us Part: a Rolex Story"
Woow
The long con!
