I must be gaining some weight (not in a good way) because I've been resizing most of my bracelets (that lack micro adjust) and finally sat down to swap out a half link with a full size link on my SBGJ261.
The combination screw caps + pins are still a nightmare to handle, even wearing a magnifying visor. But I learned from the last time I resized one of these bracelets and took my time, taped up what I needed to and went SLOWLY, didn't scratch up anything.
Eventually got it done and now my bracelet fit is ideal for now. Really hope not to do repeat this process again for a long time ๐ค๐ฝ

Admittedly it is a bit of a pain. Those screws are tiny. Luckily I have only had to do it once. I guess the learning from your post is โdonโt gain weightโ ๐
GS really needs better bracelets
Similar experience. Maybe the 2 worst implementations of this are GS and Omega. What the hell are they thinking. Just make it all a one piece screw pin.
I think itโs a conspiracy to make sure you bring it back to them to do everything or if you lose a piece, you buy more from them.
Damn! Using a screwdriver set, I'm pretty sure you can afford an actual watch tools. ๐ GS is my dream watch ๐ฅ
Just a little recommendation from my side: put some loctite on those screws. I didn't and one screw suddenly became loose and the bracelet opened on my arm without any warning or chance to react. The watch fell nose down on concrete from waist height...
Usually I just unscrew one side and the pin will fall out on one side if you wiggle it a bitโฆ
I had to do it 5x onceโฆin one sitting

The only benefit I can see from screw end caps is there is no torquing force on them when the bracelet links move since they simply sent in place and the free floating pin is the only thing bearing the articulating force of the links, but still a major PITA to deal with

What 'actual watch tools' are you referring to. End screws require a precision screwdriver

I tried that but no go, the first pin didn't want to slide out, so I had to uncap from, and resizing 5 watches at once, no thanks ๐
LMAO the way you started the post ๐
Youโve just convinced me to lose weight before buying another watch to avoid this lol
OMG I hate those screws. Pins and collars are so much easier.
Not fond memory of doing it,putting it on wrist when finished though ๐โค๏ธ๐worth the mither.
Fun, isn't it? ๐ I'm pretty handy and don't have any qualms about adjusting bracelets myself (esp after an AD in Dubai left a massive ding in my new Speedmaster many years ago and I only noticed when I opened the box later, on my way to the airport.... Thankfully Omega stood up and replaced it directly ๐)... But I found adjusting my shiny new GS pretty stressful, I must admit. Just remember to keep it held as steady and securely as possible, and apply plenty of downward pressure on the screwdriver to stop it slipping and causing damage that could make it much harder. Good luck!
Well done. I found this to be infinitely easier if you have a hollow ground 1.2mm screwdriver. T-Blade they call it in AliExpress I believe. Much better grip on the screw and it doesn't fall off (so it can vanish into the lost dimension never to be found) quite as easily.

I just looked into those and yes they look like better tools, found them on both Ali Express and eBay, thanks
