WHAT THE SWATCH X OMEGA SPEEDMASTER SHOULD HAVE BEEN!

Pagani Design (micro brand) just created what Omega and Swatch should have done with the Speedmaster Moon Swatch...for under $100 USD!!! (Stainles steel dual polished case and bracelet, VK63 Meca-Quartz SEIKO movement, a curved sapphire crystal!!!) So you're telling me SWATCH and OMEGA couldn't have delivered more for a $260 price tag???

Man, that looks nice. I've seen those on AE and have been tempted.

Oh look... another "________ is better than a MoonSwatch" post.

Have you considered the idea with the MoonSwatch was not to make a daily wear watch that was a "value"?

Sure I have. I even bought one myself. The Omega swatch was an obvious cash grab (which I happily contributed to). So now I'm not allowed to bring up facts about the poor quality control, cheap case, staining ink and dusty dials just because the watch wasn't meant to be a REAL WATCH? I can't compare it to an obvious replica/look-a-like of the actual watch either? I literally only paid for the OMEGA logo, because that watch was not worth more than $50 bucks in my OPINION. Sounds like Swatch sends you a paycheck, or you're a deeply offended fanboy. Seems like an odd thing to be bothered by? Couldn't just read the post and let it go, huh?

Just buy it from AMAZON, worse case scenario, you return it (30 day full money back policy). I'm sure you'll love it, and might even feel a little disappointed that you bought (if you did) the real SWATCH once you compare the two in quality and comfortability; I know I was. lol

Logic, huh? Okay, how was the Swatch marketed as? An affordable OMEGA/moon watch that anyone could buy. So clearly targeting the less wealthy and more budget oriented individuals. I don't know if you know, but less wealthy individuals like "more bang for their buck" (more value for their money). With that logic and targeted market, SWATCH should have delivered a better quality item, and not something that looks and feels like a came out of a McDonald's happy meal. Maybe not stainless steel, but at least not a fused case/crystal.

That's not what Swatch does... They make fun, collectable, and not super practical watches. You don't buy one to get a GADA watch. Why would they change their normal ways to appease people who imagined they were buying a budget Speedmaster?

·

Wow, the photos you've taken looks better than their stock AE photos

I work in an environment where wearing the watches in my collection would be detrimental. When the moonswatch was announced I was ecstatic. I could wear the speedy case at work and not worry about really tearing up an expensive watch. The reality is much different. I don't wear my moonswatch to work because they're hard to come by. Now I'm considering a version of the watch pictured above to get the speedy feel on the wrist at work.

·

I foolishly believed Omega's early statement that they would soon be available online. I hate the hype pieces enough as it is but to hype and make difficult to get something this cheap that is supposed to be for fun (and lie about it being available online soon). #%$@#$

I can't lie. I picked one of these up for the fun the MoonSwatch was supposed to be. It was my first and likely last AliExpress watch but it served it's purpose. It is a fun watch that I can wear anywhere. Now I have a Speedy Apollo 11 Moonwatch, a Bulova Apollo 15 Moonwatch and a Pagani homage to a non-Apollo MoonSwatch.

·

I believe so, right??? if not, then what are the requirements/criteria to be considered a "micro brand"???

·

Finally some watch brand out there getting it right.

·

Just picked this up with the black bezel. Awesome watch. Looks great. No issues. My first Pagani and the $ to quality of this particular watch is a home run.

As a recent purchaser of this watch those photos are accurate "in person" captures. Meaning it looks better than the web photos. Just my opinion.

I snagged one too.. V5 .. I owned the glare monster v3 in black -- gave it away. But this one is bomb.

The Moonswatch toy was a genius money-grab-fraud. For as long as that fraud keeps going the posts won't stop.

·

this one is not a 1:1 clone -- it's a combo of Mission to Mercury OmegaXSwatch toy Moonswatch with the real Speedy Alaska Project.

·

Ha! yes it makes me feel fantastic to get a saphhire crystal (grown by Seiko) with a sapphire Bezel insert (also grown by Seiko) on a well finished 316L case and bracelet with a Seiko Mechaquartz movement for a total of $69 during the June sale -- shipped to my door from Guandong, China. You bet it makes me feel better. The mechaquartz movement alone is worth $25 -- how they make ANY money with these excellent specs beats me!! I'm an engineer -- the "ego" element of watches evades me sometimes. Specs and Value will always get me. 🙂

Fred I get you 100%. I'm a Mexican-American with 4 European children. American educated - very Eurocentric. And I see your point. However I'm also a technologist that has worked in Asia. It's 2023 not 1983. I think you meant to say "inexpensive" instead of "cheap". Cheap can refer to NOT meeting manufacturing specifications, inexpensive refers to costs and price. Cheap is the Omega Moonswatch which is also overpriced. The Manhattan project cost us 2 Billion dollars (25.8 B in today's money) to build the bomb. The Chinese built theirs (yes I know the Rooskies helped) for 1/100 of the cost. Both bombs work pretty well. Because of my background I've already accepted that the Japanese have mastered the art of timekeping and have practically obliterated balance wheel movements/technology. We're now living off nostalgia and heritage. The Chinese are catching up as fast as the Japanese did. Pagani has their own designs too ----which nobody seems to care for! No one! 😜 But I understand your point of view 100% buddy. You're much like my brother who is far more of a watch afficionado than I am. You'd never catch him buying a Pagani-- or ANY Asian watch for that matter -- though I think he owns a Seiko "Pogue" he bought off a friend to help him out. Every time I show him what I am wearing I can't help but see the look of dissapointnent on his face. 😀 Cracks me up. Cheers Fred!

It's not a fraud, my MoonSwatch is exactly as advertised.

Swatch isn't responsible for people having unrealistic expectations about a Swatch...

The Moonswatch costs at least twice as much as a regular Swatch (if you actually buy it in the Swatch Store). But It's not twice the watch. I'd rather buy the Irony or Sistem51 for less money. Also, not having supplies, and playing the Rolex AD game of artificial scarcity is straight-up fraudulent. Not to mention the promise to sell online by Xmas and then going back on the promise and continuing the false scarcity only leads to scalpers selling for the highest price the market will bear. Also fraudulent. That happens when you overprice a product well above its manufacturing cost and hype the hell out of it. The Pagani is a better timepiece - hands down-- and for the price-- it's unbelievable. Having said that, I own two Moonswatches. 🙂 My facebook post when I got them was: DO NOT BUY THIS FRAUD. One of them was SCRATCHED brand new right out of th box. Who packages a plastic watch in a box made with Sand Paper finish??!! Swatch does it. Total fraud, and I, along with millions of others fell for it. Absolutely Genius.

Cool, you had unrealistic expectations, and are upset about it.

I love mine, and think it was worth every penny.

I have enough boring, reliable watches that I can afford to have a fun impractical watch.

I disagree with you there too!! The moonswatch IS a super practical watch -I wear it when I mow the lawn and at the gymn since I can barely feel it on!! It’s 30 grams of a plastic toy! And my expectations were NOT unrealistic- it’s not unrealistic to expect a $260 dollar Swatch to be AT LEAST EQUAL TO OR BETTER than another Swatch priced for less money (Irony or Sistem51). Usually the more priced a product is relative to another similar product produced by the same company reflects on more features or quality - not unrealistic. Not so much upset as I am disappointed in Swatch — and Omega Speedmaster Profesional owners are disappointed in Swatch as well (but for entirely different reasons) 😂😂😂. It was a fabulous money grab. But enough going back and forth — Here is a tip for you - it makes the moonswatch wear so much better. Replace the short end of the strap with the position where the long end of the strap is — sports and feels waaaaay better!! Thank me later. https://youtu.be/kJZNHoRh9cQ

·

What brand and color is the strap?

·

I think a metal "MoonSwatch" goes directly against the aesthetic of the Swatch brand but the value is subjective in this case since Pagani has a different economy of scale. But I do think the actual MoonSwatch should have used a mecha quartz movement
