Looking for a summer watch

Hello Watchfam!,

Summer is almost around the corner, so for a lot of us that means travel, sunnier climates and some water activities, and off course a watch that can accompany us on these activities!

So, last few days I've been thinking what watch I can buy to wear during this lovely time of the year. I've been thinking to bring my G-Shock DW5600E-1V, but I figured I might like a bit more colour (or white) for the summer, especially since I'm only planning on bringing one watch with me.

I've also been thinking about the Edifice EFR-S108D-7AVUEF, other G-Shocks, an Orient Defender, or a Lorus field watch.

But now I've come to you for help. Are there any watches you can think of?

Some requirements are:

  • At least 100m of water resistance, since I'm planning to swim with the watch.

  • A bit of colour, or white. Black is also an option, but then it should get paired with a colourful NATO-strap to give off a summer-vibe.

  • Preferably on a steel bracelet or a NATO-strap. Gold or silver watches are all fine for me. Most important is that the watch wears comfortable, since I'll be wearing it all the time. Resin bands usually cause some irritation for me when it's hot and I'm sweating a lot.

  • I don't care that much about the style of the watch. I usually wear sporty watches and divers, but a nice field watch would also be welcome.

  • It should really be a watch that I can wear all the time: while swimming but also when going out or visiting a city.

  • I don't care about the movement. It can be an automatic or a quartz (and/ or solar). Quartz might even be a safer option since it's usually a bit more shock-resistant.

  • I'm not planning on spending a lot, since I'm saving up for a lovely Longines. So the budget is $150 at max but preferably even under $ 100. I don't have a problem with buying used (but in good condition) watches.

I hope y'all can help me out with this one! Thanks for reading!

Not sure pricing in Belgium but I would say:

#1 Casio Duro just buy a nato strap

Personally I think the edifice line has many gems that suit your criteria. Most of which can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.

You can also get some Japanese market specialities that while taking longer to get delivered would be quite special & rare. I also think the will make great summer watch due to them being quartz or solar quartz.

If you are swimming I really like the Casio Duro idea, if you don't mind something a little big. I had mine on a mesh bracelet, and it looked very professional, you could slip a nato on for swimming, or just keep it on the mesh since that would dry quicker. I had the blue one but they have all different colors to choose from. I say "had" because my daughter liked it so much she "borrowed" it for an extended period of time, IE if I want one I'll have to get another one.

The Edifice looks like a winner to me!

I would stick with the DW-5600 idea, I just wear mine a tad looser when it's hot so it doesn't irritate my wrist. Otherwise, the Casio Duro or an Invicta Pro Diver are two good suggestions that have been made.

Some great picks, thanks! The Casio Duro goes for a bit of a premium over here, so you would have to find a deal on it to find it as cheap as the 50 USD.

I agree with that! The Edifice line really has some nice watches out there, bang for buck!

How much colour do you want?

These have all the specifications you require and are less than $100 each.

Those are definitely some vibrant summer watches!

Been looking at this one as well, but I would like to have it on a strap instead of a bracelet. Don’t know if that’s hard to find when it is an integrated bracelet🙈🤷‍♂️
