Digital Watch Vault

This is a great YouTube video from Paul Thorpe about the digital watch vault. What do you think - does this give watch enthusiasts hope regarding watch crime ? Will it work - only if enough major players participate I suppose. What do you think ?

Me neither, he's dodgy.

There are too sparse details to assess. Free? Blockchain? That's expensive to maintain. So how do they cover the costs? And do we want our transaction history open to the public? Too many questions right now.

In general I agree there should be a register of stolen watches available to public and/or authorities to access and verify watches sold. His intentions are probably honest to help but not sure this is the right way. IMO all brands should have this available and assist any victims that had watch stolen and potential new victims that are buying those stolen watches

The cellphone industry hasn't managed to agree to brick phones that are stolen...and they have already built almost all of the tools they need into the system. The phones have unique digital signatures, all it would take is the providers being told they are stolen and they could keep stolen phones off of the market. Yet as simple as that is...there isn't the will power to actually do it. How are you going to get the watch industry motivated to spend the time and money on this?

Miss me with that shit. Insure your watch through Hodinkee and Chubb and you are good. Honestly I know guys like Paul Thorpe and Roman Sharf and many peoples entry into watches but you are better off not dealing with them at all
