The 60s
Zenith and it's automatic chrono and the intense international competition led to incredible advancement in technology.
So many great vintage watches from this era. Rolex, Hauer, Seiko, Omega, Zodiac.......
I would say the 60's as well. Most of the watch looks and designs we know today started either in the late 50's or through the 60's.

I'll plum for the 60s as its when a lot of the iconic watches and designs really came to prominence.
Late 60's to early 70's was an interesting period, a lot going on at that time before the quartz crisis.
Agree with @SurferJohn. I like how the 60s and 70s pushed the envelope in design aesthetics. It was a real mix of classy, cool, and timeless design which watches today are looking and finding inspiration and/or iterations.

And I also underscore before the quartz crisis, the watch world changed after that.
Right now. We have GS, Tudor, FP journe, RM are a few of my favorites... the rise of hyper watches, 3D printing, ceramics, digital Lazer etching and rapid prototyping. History is what brought us here. The new catalogs of design are accessible to designer world wide through the internet has put watch making in hyperdrive. Very exciting times we live in.
