Just wanted to say hello to everyone!

Updated Jan 24 I started hunting & gathering watches in 2020 during COVID. I keep my purchase under $2000, usually well under. My least expensive was $27. Collection of over 75 so far. I enjoy everything in my collection. I am very interested in finding others that are new and/or with similar tastes. I have picked up more knowledge of watches then I ever thought there was and I still can't get enough. I wish you all happy hunting and collecting!

Hi and great to meet you. Have a good time on WatchCrunch.👊

Thanks! I have been looking at red dial watches lately. What is the one you have here and do you have others or recommendations? I am looking at a Seiko cocktail, an Orient Kamasu, or a Spinnaker Fluess.

Hi Luke, I don't currently have a G-Shock. Do you have a favorite? I will be looking into these more in the future! HH&C!

·

Hello new Cruncher!! Welcome. I'm fairly new here too. I'm slowly starting to get the lay of the land. It's certainly a fun place to hang around. I too have never spent over a $1000 on a watch si far. I look for bargains on watches I enjoy. Mostly Seikos. Looking forward to sharing my two cents with you! Maybe combined we can make it to a nickel 🤷

·

Math is hard! I have actually been looking a little too hard at the red Seiko cocktail. What are your thoughts on this? What is your favorite Seiko you own? I only have one currently. HH&C!

Can't go to wrong with a square. There's a multitude of them out there but I'd suggest to start with this guy!

Welcome to WC! Glad to have you here. You're in the right place.

Enjoy the watches!

Cheers!

·

Thanks for sharing that. Do they have analog watches that are round? I just remember having a digital watch when I was young and I just feels wrong for me. Don't hate me! 😀 HH&C!

·

Welcome! There are many stellar options in your price bracket both new and preowned. Looking forward to seeing what you've settled on so far.

·

Go away! You must spend 10K on a watch before any crunchers will engage with you!

Image

Oh, wait.

That's a Canadian $10k. So your roughly USD $1k limit should be fine.

You're in! Welcome my friend 😀😜

·

Lol! Thanks. I have only one Seiko so far and and I saw that you are a champion of this brand. I have been looking at the Presage cocktail watches the red looks amazing. Do you have a favorite Seiko? HH&C!

Well the watch in my profile picture is an Islander ISL100 black dial. The picture was taken while waiting to collect an Indian takeaway meal and the lights in the restaurant were red. It just gave that nice red effect. I believe that Islander may have other red dial models available though.

Sorry if that's not the answer you expected.🤔🤷

Nice, thanks! That gold Mathey Tissot is beautiful. 😍

·

Oh I was thoughtless, so sorry. Is this yours? If so, tell me your thoughts on it please. I have a Mathey Tissot that is a Pepsi watch so I would go with one of the other color combinations with this. I plan on getting a Batman watch for sure and maybe a couple others. Not even close to deciding what brand for which but I believe Casio will be one of them. HH&C!

I wrote a review of the Duro that can be found here:

Check it out 😃

Welcome! Looking forward to seeing your additions to WRUW moving forward. You’ll find not a lot of F.O. here but you will find a lot of knowledge and encouragement and of course watch pr0n. I will also second checking out islander. Great watches, great company, and great support.

·

That's an excellent review. Thanks so much for sharing that and clueing me in!

·

welcome! lots of great options in that sweet spot you mentioned. can’t wait to see your WRUW! 💪🏼

When I started my watch adventures I also said I wouldn't probably ever spend over $1k on a watch. There are so many great watches under that price point....BUT.....here I am and well let's just say welcome to the madness my friend. I dipped my toes and before I knew it dove in.

But I enjoy my collection from my humble Casios, Timexes (Timi?) to my Monta and everything in between. There an Omega in my horizon.

Don't say you weren't warned. 🙂

·

Thanks, I do worry about it a little. It does seem like the more I know the more I want to get some higher priced ones. An Elvis type Hamilton and the Bulova Lunar Pilot are expensive temptations for me now and I can see how this can excelerate and eventually go higher. For now as still a beginning collector I am not ready to take that step.

Not sure if this was meant for me? - use the "reply" button to help us echo-locate whom is talking to whom.

Guessing it's probably me since I'm prone to pushing Seikos at everyone (and generating hate mail as a result. ) I have dozens of favorite Seikos. Look to my profile and you can see lots of mine.

The cocktail times crush it on value for a watch. As good in person as the pics online. I like the 'Negroni' and the 'Old Clock'. Lots of watches that cost 1 or 2k don't have dials and applied markers this nice.

I lean hard towards divers (or at least 100m with a screw down crown) so I've not got a cocktail time yet, but am constantly tempted.

·

Welcome & make sure you wear elbow pads gloves & helmet etc as you tumble down the rabbit hole that is watch collecting 😂 😂

So sorry, yes this was for sure directed at you. I am getting the Negroni now from Macy's online for just a bit over $300 including tax and shipping. 🙂 Thanks so much for the information!
