I'm wearing my Dan Henry 1939 today. Pronounced dome that I was initially a bit worried about caving in on the first hard object I encountered, being a fairly clumsy individual, but which has stood up really well and looks great. If they're done right, and they're right for the watch, I think they really add something.
This is exactly what my missus and I do. The same contribution to a joint account every month that takes care of the house, bills etc. Then what she does with her money is up to her, and what I do with mine is up to me. She doesn't quite understand my thing for watches, but has never complained about me buying one or tried to talk me out of it. I don't tell her what she can do with her money either. And we've never had a row about it. It's the way forward.

I have the silver-faced version of their 1939. Really enjoy it and don't think you'd regret buying a DH. Only very minor complaint is that the keepers on the strap have gone a bit, but I've already had it a couple of years and it's in the rotation pretty frequently, so it's a very small thing.

I think we're living in something of a golden age right now, in terms of choice and sharing in a love of collecting at least. There are so many microbrands out there, and of course it's a bit of a mixed bag, but a lot of them are making some original and gorgeous watches and providing incredible value for money.
If I could have anything from anywhen, though, I'd love an original piece of Art Deco on my wrist. I've got some modern Art Deco-inspired pieces (my Vario Empire, for example, perfectly encapsulates what I'm saying above). But yeah, if I had the money and confidence in the dealer, I'd really love an original piece of vintage Art Deco.

I have a Vario Empire and I love the 1918 - if I hadn't only just bought a watch when they came out, I'd have probably gone for one of those too. I think they're a great company and always look forward to new releases - great straps too.

I'm on the waiting list for a silver dial, due in July. I agree with the reservations expressed about the movement, crystal etc for the price, but also, having worked alongside graphic designers for many years (not that I'm one myself) I do think that there is value in a design you find beautiful too. And I think this is gorgeous, and did so immediately from a quick glimpse of it in passing on a YouTuber's SotC video, before I knew anything about its hype or the brand. So I'm looking forward to receiving it, and for me five months or whatever it may end up being will pass pretty quickly in the grand scheme of things.
