I received two watches for free, One of them was a Lamont Compensamatic I was reviewing because of the impressive waterproof case (from 1930-ish), and the watch showed up broken, and I found a way to fix it, but for my trouble, he refunded my money and let me keep it. Also, I purchased a Citizen 8110A, and by accident, I received a West End Watch, and the Citizen was about $400 buck. So, the store owner allowed me to keep the box and papers, West End Watch, and my Citizen. It was a very strange event, and I seriously questioned the authenticity for a while before I actually got confirmation from West End themselves. The total of these free watches would be a total of about 350 bucks, which was really cool and both of these watches are used in my daily rotation.
And frankly while we are on the topic of routine maintenance I heavily recommend going to time.gov to set your watch it is really helpful to have a constant to see how much your watch deviates from day to day without a Timegrapher
