I usually immediately take whatever came on the watch, slap in Marathon shoulderless, and literally change single pieces every day, regardless of price point.
If I ever have anything over the $1K mark, I would see no difference.
A few have elastic style, rubber, or a steel bracelet here or there so they tend to stay in whatever I have them on.
I don’t have expensive watches, so I swap straps for most of the watches I have. I only don’t swap for those that have less common lug widths that I didn’t buy straps for or Swatch watches (yes, Swatch. I have a couple of them that that are still usable with straps that have not cracked).
I love switching straps on watches, cost of watch is entirely irrelevant. I only buy straps with quick release spring bars, and love being able to change the look of a watch on the fly.
Doesn't really matter to me. I've done both and only care if the combo looks good. The strap I have on my Moonswatch Pluto, for instance, cost half as much as the watch.

That combination looks great
Not sure if my answer will be helpful to you, as I do both!
I switch straps on “nice” watches and “cheap”ones.
Your choice of strap looks great on that Casio. # Casio #straps👍
I just do it on the cheap ones. They get more frequent wear.
I have relatively inexpensive watches so I've been swapping when it makes sense.

I change the look on just about everything. Vintage don't love you for trying it though.
I switch straps like dirty underwear! There's only a hand full of watches that I keep on their bracelets.

For me it has more to do with how good of an OEM band it comes with and/or if the lugs are regular or custom (like my Ebel).
With a 6.5" wrist, I always end up swapping the original strap for a short one.

Was hesitant with blue and black but looks great

None of my watches are safe from a strap swap.
Change up here also on all my watches. I even have custom straps made for them.
Have fun!
Cheers!
