Thought on the new Timex Tiburón Automatic dive watch

I was really into it until I saw the size. Too big for my 18cm wrist.

·

Yes, I think it looks very nice and has very good specifications.

·

Timex is trying to get out of the budget lane by pricing themselves out without following with the extra quality. Their auto's are just Citizen's rebranded. The movement maker is no where in their advertising but I believe it's just an 8 series Miyota.

I believe they do use Miyota as their movement manufactory for most of their manual watches. I would guess at this price point it would be an 8 series. I think the price is in line with the components they are using.

  1. WHY 44mm?!

  2. Wish they were a little more original with the handset

·

I agree this would been really nice at around 40mm. As for the hands I think they work if you are focusing in on legibility in low light situations.

·

43mm-45mm is perfect. I also like the hands, which remind me of a turtle diver. They’re the perfect blend of high visibility surface area with a fine point timing precision. Now that I think of it, the pips look like a turtle too 😂. So the the main difference between this and a turtle is no day, and crown is at 3 o’clock vs 4 o’clock

Good point. I wonder what is going on with the Galli S2 is no longer on their website. Do you know what happened? I'm wondering if they shelved it due to quality control issues for their first $1K watch.

Did they just copy Seiko hands? 🤔

they look like Citizen hands which figures since the majority of it is Miyota. The would have a great watch if they spent a couple bucks more and went to the 9 series movement.

That is a good question!

I Love it, it's added to my wish list.

·

Yes, it's a Miyota, but the model number is not listed. It just says "Miyota Co."

At last a Timex I wouldn't be scared of taking in the water. The Seiko(ish) dial and handset work for me, and I love the matching flag detail on the dial and strap. I don't have a problem with it being a Miyota movement.. after all, every other watch in this price range has a Seiko movement and a little choice on the market can only be a good thing. I think Timex is starting to go places just now and I'm excited to see what else they will come out with in the near future.

Would I buy it? Probably not. It's a little too big for my current tastes.

Definitely more similar to the Seiko SKX. The shape is exactly the same 👽

I also am fascinated by what Timex has been doing of late. I would like to see them move back to being a manufacturer again.

Yeah. I would be more than happy for that to happen, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

In the meantime my wonderful wife bought me another vintage Timex yesterday. Details to follow

Not holding my breath either but I like how they are looking back and upping their game.

I love it but it’s I believe more then what they should be asking. Just my opinion.

It nice. A bit tame

·

I do like it, I think they could have went the a more interesting design but I do like it

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, being a citizen diver owner myself
