Just three weeks before I go and visit Glashütte, home of A Lange, Nomos and Glashütte Original, I go ahead and buy a new watch…
Why can’t I wait, save up the money and buy a nice commemorative watch from Glashütte?
On the bright side: I DID find an amazing vintage watch (1969) at a good price, first piece in the collection of this specific brand, chrono certified…very happy camper 🤩

Yes! I think the dial is more balanced and better looking on the date version but I wanted the fluted bezel and didn’t find one with date only.

I was originally looking at the 1973 model of the Connie (birth year :) but then found out that the 564 movement from earlier models is much nicer looking than the 1011 in the 1973….compromises :-)

And I’m not too worried about the depreciation. One, because I don’t intend to sell. And two: bought mine brand new from one of GO’s ADs one year ago for 9k - price now is 12k (?!) So if I’d sell right now, guess I could even make a profit 🙃

Do you really think I could afford a gift for myself after that???
My gift is that she didn’t take her 30 and out pension from marriage along with the house, car and bank accounts.
