Christopher Ward The Twelve

I've been asked as an owner of both the prx and the twelve how would I compare them.

Personally I would say they aren't even in the same league. The Christopher Ward is a much better finished watch in every aspect. Hopefully this photo shows you that.

Not to take anything away from the twelve, but it does cost 3x as much as the PRX.

Agreed if taking the quartz into comparison (which is the version I have) However the powermatic retails at £610 in the UK and the Christopher Ward at £1050. Then it's 50ish % more expensive. And you get considerably more for your money (well in the watch world)

I don’t have any doubts the the CW is better finished, but what are you trying to show with those photos?

Thing is, I don’t like the dial structure of the 12. I like it on the PRX Auto, however. And I’ve never seen a comparable bracelet in the PRX Auto range (let alone the Quarz, since they’re identical).

So the question remains: What is the purpose of that post and the pictures, exactly?

They're both great watches but the price difference is a huge factor here. No need to shade one watch or the other.

I find this kind of comparison is always tricky: comparing similar watches but with a big price difference.

A 70% difference is quite big, and still, it may be that the lower price item has better quality or better value depending on the profit margin the company is seeking.

But if the better-finished watch is the more expensive one, I can only agree and think it is as it should be. I can agree that a 2000 USD watch from a Swiss company has a better finish than a 1200 USD Seiko, the opposite would be the rare thing.

Then it depends on each one of us to decide if we are willing/able to pay the difference and get the more expensive one if we like both watches.

Of course, the percentage, while true, is not the only variable: if the 50% difference between two objects is 10 dollars, one can argue is negligible; if the 50% difference is 500 USD, for some people it will still be negligible, for others it could mean saving for a couple of months to get it and for others, it can be too much on an already stretched budget.

I have (had) both and I must agree that the CW Twelve is significantly nicer in finishing and also a bit more comfortable to wear than the PRX 40mm. The dial of the PRX is cool, but as soon as you saw the Twelve‘s dial in person, the PRX seems cheap. It costs a lot more relatively speaking, but it’s worth the premium in my opinion. Well done @ChristopherWard

The Tissot is a nice watch.

But the CW is beautiful.

Tissot have nailed the formula with this this one and will continue to sell a truckload. But arguably it is that watch that is overpriced. When I consider the significant differential in quality between these two watches, I start to realise that attempts to draw a direct comparison are futile and, Genta-trend influences aside, arbitrary even. The Twelve, despite its higher price point, continues CW's trend of offering quality far above what it charges. These watches appear to me to be in different leagues.

Did you read the post?

People asked for a comparison between the two, this post provides the comparison.

I unfortunately had to settle for the PRX and return the Twelve because the bracelet of the CW pulled all my wrist hair. But I totally agree, the CW12 is a much nicer watch than the PRX.

Ahhh, I see. I had a quick look and saw the Ti version is $1895, and didn’t notice the steel one for $1225. So I guess we’re talking about something closer to 2x comparing auto to auto.

Again, I think the Twelve looks great and am able to believe it’s a nicer watch in person that the PRX. I was just pointing out that there is a significant price difference. I’d say you get a lot for your money with either watch, but I don’t think a head to head comparison works well because of the price difference.

It doesn’t

I was looking at the price for the Ti version which is very close to 2x the price of a PRX. I see now that steel is less, but still considerably more than a PRX.
