ANA-digi watches appreciation post

Ever since I got my g-shock B-2100 I have acquired a taste for watches combining analog and digital features on the dials. Unexpectedly, out of my father’s drawer one day popped out an Omega Speedmaster x-33 first generation he seemed to have forgotten about. He brought it in for a service after years of oblivion and it’s now the watch I wear most often. This quick 1-2 cemented my appreciation for the so-called Ana-digi watches. I have often imagined an Ana-digi collection as a really unique take on collecting. Do you have watches that belong to this category? Do you plan to get any?

This is a list of my 4 favourite pieces:

🚀 Omega Speedmaster X-33 (1st Gen):

no surprises here. While it’s in no way aesthetic, there is a beauty to its functionality and I find myself using the chrono feature almost daily. For someone who is deeply interested in space tech and exploration, the fact it was designed in collaboration with NASA and is still today worn by many astronauts only gives it more street cred, albeit very stealthy. Imagine my satisfaction when weeks ago a fellow participant to a space & defence conference recognised it and complimented me.

🛩️ Breitling Aerospace Evo:

Unlike the X-33 I believe this one is most definitely an absolute looker, though I’m slightly put off by the 43mm size of the modern ones. The blue dial looks amazing too.

🤖 G-Shock #B2100:

AKA the solar #Casioak. I’ve had this now for a couple of years now and it has given me huge satisfaction despite the very affordable price tag. It’s a fantastic watch for seaside and skiing holidays and the Bluetooth connectivity and solar charging make it a great practical watch all-round.

🐟 Seiko Prospex Solar #SNJ033P1

A bit of a curveball and guilty pleasure that I have lusted over for a while. The still tuna case and the coloured blue and red pushers give it a utilitarian, toolwatch vibe that really resonates with me. It may be too large for my wrist but for me it really represents the spirit of pracricality-before-looks of some old-school seiko divers.

I once had the Sjoo & Sandstom Skydiver. But i managed to drain the battery each 6-7 months. So i sold it after a year.

The one i regrett selling though was the Tissot Sea-Touch. 🤦🏻‍♂️

If you get your hands on a Tissot Sea-Touch you’ll be surprised how fun it is.

To keep this short: The case have the standard pushers, but you choose the diffrent complications by touching the crystal.

I've got an old Casio waveceptor. Analogue hours minutes and seconds, LCD date, timer, stopwatch, alarm GMT and international times, loads of other stuff I've never used. Sets itself from the National Physical Laboratory clock once a day, so accuracy circa +/-1s / 100000 years. Solar powered. All titanium, 37g on the bracelet. Love it.

Yes I have several. I like ana-digi watches and have for a long time.

Ana-digi convert as well. New and old school Casio. Very cool X-33.

For a long time, didn't catch the vibe of the ana Digi watches. By chance dad was a fan, and as life went, inherited the couple below. Little did I know I would end up loving them! Really nice pieces!

I've got a couple or three. Most recently this Casio Alti-Depth Meter ARW-320 from around 1990. Precursor of the G-Shock Frogman.

I personally prefer the 3rd gen X-33.

I like these from #certina. They're similar to the Aerospace.
