Open Heart Pulsations

This is the Open Heart Pulsations watch, designed from the ground up to be a one of a kind watch. Limited Run of 4 Watches only. The dial design is the result of months of crafting and prototyping and 18K gold plated. Below is a breakdown of the details present on the dial.1- An Open anatomical front view of the human heart, highlighting the skeletonized movement below. The pallet forks oscillate in the apex area of the ventricular region giving a realistic feel to the myocardial contractions.2- The Pulsations meter in the upper right quadrant of the dial can be used to quickly assess heart rate. The scaling of the numbers is done perfectly and was tested repeatedly and validated via digital readers.3- The ECG waveform is physiologically accurate and represents the different stages of depolarization of the heart muscle during the contractile cycle.4- Anatomic labels are embossed in a subtle fashion around the structures, vessels, and ECG waveform.5- Japanese script in the bottom center of the dial translates to “Open Heart” paying homage to the Japanese Seiko movement at the heart of the watch, no pun intended.6- (Easter Egg ?)The watch case is a beautiful 38mm Grand Seiko inspired design, with a Top hat Sapphire crystal that creates beautiful distortions around the periphery of the watch. Exhibition case-back in sapphire with a custom rotor.

What a brillant watch, I can imagine a few friends who’d appreciate this a lot.

A capable schematic a Cardiologist may refer to while in the middle of open heart surgery😉

Thank you so much my friend. This will be a limited run of 4. If you can share it with anyone who is interested, they might be thankful to you, no pressure.

Haha, yes it took a lot of restrain not to turn this into a page out of a physiology textbook. Thanks for the comment my friend.

Thank you for that.. very informative.

Sure thing. I generally don't keep my fingers on the pulse of happenings of watch design but thought my input would be appreciated. Duane......Black Diamond, WA. 98010 U.S.A.

You chose a healthy QRS. Less aesthetically pleasing during a heart attack.

A beautiful watch. I haven't had to read an EKG in ages. Don't need to. Still I like it better than if you put an anatomically correct skin cancer on it.

·

Downside of the pulsations meter on a non-chronograph movement is that you’d have to wait to start counting when the second hand hits the 12 position.

Yes, that is true. However the watch is about the story, design, it being a conversation starter, something of interest to admire or look at. This is not meant to be a tool watch, or to be used in some sort of healthcare setting. Anyone can take out their phone and put a finger on the sensor and watch their heart rate live as much as they wish to.

you never know... the uncontrolled proliferation of neoplastic cells under a microscope might hold great abstract beauty to an artist. Thanks for the comment.

I can respect that. I think if there was a future model made as a chronograph, there’d be an open market for it. There’s relatively few affordable pulsometers out there and a lot of people in the medical field that would potentially use it

You'll have no trouble finding interested parties. It looks great.

Incredible details… why can’t I get one? 😭

A radial pulse check is done quick and fast, high accuracy of HR isn’t needed.

I use a watch with a sweep seconds, start counting the pulse from whatever primary index it passes next. Count pulse for six seconds, multiply by 10.

Those fancy chronos that need actuation, and have you counting beats for 15 to 30 pulses are not practical

Mostly however, I’m feeling for quality and rhythm

I don’t know the symbol or brand, who is it?

I’d take exception to the label “Japanese watch” simply because they buy NH movements (like all Ali express watches.)

If watch is made and designed in Japan I’d agree that it is. 👍

Most of the watches with lots of katakana on the dial are Chinese watches using the distinct characters to obscure their origin. The obfuscation is shady IMO

I’ll admit, overall watch is quite accurate for all the medical labels on the dial 👍

(that T wave being the only ‘wrong’ looking item)

Thanks for write up and showing it off. Yup, my gig is cardiac surgery ❤️😉
