Minimum spend Maximum joy!

I posted a little while ago for help with deciding between two affordable divers, the Ray 2 and the Mako 2.

I decided to get both since I liked em both and the Crunch population seemed equally divided.

I ordered the black Ray 2 from Creation Watches based out of Singapore for £120 after a small discount code.

It arrived today after being delayed by the UK postal strikes as a late Christmas present.

I've sized it and put it straight on and I'm predictably delighted with it.

I even don't mind the slightly blingy bracelet although I will probably stick it on a black tropical or of course a Nato.

I'm posting this just to remind everyone that you don't have to spend shed loads of cash to get that amazing new watch feeling!

That's not to detract at all from those lucky people who have bought or received very high end watches. I know they bring great pleasure.

In time to come I will be that person spending lots on something more posh but in the meantime there can't be many hobbies where you can buy effectively the bottom of the range and still get so much pleasure from it?

I'm ordering a blue Mako 2 soon. It should cost about the same and it will be money well spent in my opinion!

Yes exactly! I don't think enjoyment is directly linked to money spent.

Have a few myself and love um!! I gave a Mako2 and Ray2, that I modded, to my nephews for Christmas. No worries though, I still have 3 in the collection

Yep you just can't beat Orient Divers for an affordable Diver. So many variants to choose from!

·

I have both. I love my Ray 2. I don't wear the other...

·

Is that because of the numerals on the dial I wonder?

·

Great buy! Enjoy👍Those Orient divers (and the Bambino) looks great.

·

Thank you Sir! Yes my current favourite. I hope you are keeping well and a Happy New Year!

·

Orient is a solid watch … in house and affordable

·

Yes I think in the long term I will have a seperate watch box just for Orient divers!

·

That's a very Orient-heavy dive watch collection, and that makes me very happy to hear that. Keep collecting what makes you happy!

·

Only a Kamasu and Ray 2 so far but I'm about to order the Mako 2 blue ir Pepsi can't decide!

Also got a couple of Vostok divers and recently a Phoibis , but you are right I'm very Orient focused!

·

That's crazy-- I just got the exact same watch, after years of cycling in and out of divers (including other the Orients) looking for The One.  And although I have and have had some major watch-players in my collection, this watch has made me soooo contented and happy.  It came two weeks ago, and for the first time in forever I am not seriously contemplating my next buy.

·

Its weird isn't it! It's my favourite now by far. Even with the annoyingly small crown. If you wear it all the time you haven't got to worry about the crown though. Didn't like the bracelet on first sight but now I do?

I think Orient Kamasu II are just the best bang for buck and - for me - the best balance of casual watch and waterproofing in the looks department...

Here's my RA-AA000814 oxblood...

Barely took it off in the summer.

Yes I agree! The Kamasu 2 is probably going to end up in my collection this year and in red too! My Kamasu 1 is teal but I think the dark red dial is probably even better?

It's a stunner.

Honestly feel like it could be my 'most of the time" favourite.
