Lorca GMT - Thoughts?

Fellow Watch Obsessed, The Loca GMT is making the press and social media rounds.  Lorca has designed a gentlema’s retro travel field watch that would be at home in a cocktail bar, busness class and the woods.  I love the look and specs.

I’d welcome some educated views on value ($1,450 USD prelaunch) and the the risk of purchasing the first release of a freshman microbrand.

Really a beautiful design, IMO. No idea from a value basis. Looks like a great movement and great dimensions for the smaller wrist.

I love mid century dimensions.  I’m happy the watch size pendulum is swinging back to the non-dinner plate sizes.

Sweet, a solid case back and a humane size! The bracelet looks great, as is the bezel. I like the trapezoidal date window. Totally prefer the silver dial. I know nothing of the Soprod movement, but I imagine that is part of the cost.

·

Love the design and I suspect that this would look good even on a so what larger wrist (18.5cm for me).

I have movement questions.  I have heard whispers (nothing solid or confirmed) that the Soprod C125 has had some teething issues with the Zodiac GMTs.

Would love to hear from longer term Soprod owners (Baltic GMTs, Zodiacs, etc) on how they've found living with the movement especially sinc I've heard from my watchmaker that there aren't really spare parts going around so you're reliant on manufacturer service.

I have two of the gmts using the soprod and it’s great. One is about 6seconds fast the other about 4 seconds slow per day which is almost cosc. I am intrigued by this brand but for me I want just a bit more pop of color. But I’ll definitely keep my eye on them.

I’m far from a movement head. But I think the Soprod is a good choice. The Miyota "caller" GMT movements are in vogue, but the trusty Soprod top grade C125 has an accuracy of plus/minus four seconds, which trumps the Miyota.  I’m in the minority but I perfer caller GMTs.

I don’t know anything about the soprod movement either, but it’s thin and claims a +/- 4 sec/day. Interest peaked!

Glad to hear good experiences from @mattyb.  Would love to hear even more.

I think given the Serica 5303 fiasco with the Soprod Newton, I'm not inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt without attestations from Crunchers!

Good point!  I totally forgot about the Serica fumble.

Nice design. Reminds me of volstok with a Vegas rat pack twist.

Yeah I love that watches styling and was surprised at the issues with the movement given my experiences with Soprod. I like that ghost bezel style one (old Tudor sub vibes) but for now I’d trust the c125 over the newton

The two on the right are both c125

I think this is a very well executed design! All the right retro vibes in place.

·

Beautiful design, poor movement choice.

Would you care to elaborate?  I know what I've heard....what have you heard/experienced?

Totall!!!  I love my Glycine Purist.  It’s my go-to travel warch. Lorca may knock it off the throne.

·

I also have the 36mm Purists.  I love the layout. The 24 hour dial and tail of the hour hand are a super intuitive way to tell time.  I wear  it as my casual travel watch and exploring NYC on the weekend.

I don't think the 36mm Purists Airman gets the love it deserves.  Great design, history and build quality.

·

It's a handsome watch, but it looks like it came out of Serica's catalog.  The brand name even sounds like a parallel universe Serica.

I love that Purist watch, but if it is less known that it deserves to be, Glycine is the culprit.  They haven't pushed the watch at all on social media or Youtube, and they only keep the watch in production sporadically.

Good point.  They are pssing on getting value out of s valuable asset.

Boy, I love the design. Very nice.

·

Like the design a lot.

Would like to see their interpretation of a 3-hand time only watch
