Fledgling watch collector who craves diversity in dependable, affordable watches.
Other than that.... husband, father, friend, servant, patriot, worshipper and Blockchain enthusiast. Lover of all things technical, motorcycles, cars old and new (driving and detailing them), fountain pens, watches, & so much more.
But mainly - follower of Jesus!
In about November of 2021, my beloved Casio Waveceptor Solar WVA-470 that I've worn for about a decade broke where the plastic case joins the strap, and was out of service for about five months.
I eventually used Crazy Glue to fix it, but during that time I tried to go watchless and realized that I didn't like it one bit.
I also started researching what to replace it with, and settled on a metal G-Shock (GST-B200-1A) that was available at my favorite wholesale warehouse store.
But before I could pull the trigger, it sold out, and has not been available since. It was only about a $200.00 watch, but in the meantime I had discovered Casio Duros, and other inexpensive G-Shocks, and 'Casioaks', and now the bug has bitten me hard.
I love being able to wear different watches to express my mood, or match an activity or wardrobe.... And watch people are often very cool!
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
It was an inexpensive Timex, then affordable digital watches from Casio later, then most recently another solar/atomic Casio.
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
Not yet!
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Follow your heart, don't get pulled into impressing people or following the crowd, and buy what you like.
And don't collect beyond your means!
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
Brew Watch Company and Casio.
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
I have several, truth be told.
The attainable one would probably be the brew Watch Company Metric with the Retro Dial for about $400.00 (because I like the quirky looks of it).
The midrange/maybe someday one would be the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Dark Side of the Moon with the yellow accents (because it looks so awesome).
And my 'you just won a really big lottery' watch would be a Rolex Paul Newman Daytona (but one of the cheaper ones), just because it represents a lot of amazing watch history, and looks so beautiful.
But I'm happy with my very affordable collection, and feel very blessed to just have more than one watch - LOL.
