Fairly accessible price point (I'm not going to get started on quality b/c honestly for people who aren't already into watches that's sort of besides the pt.), space and fun color marketing hype/association with a luxury brand via its parent company that might reach a new demographic, and annoying scarcity and hoops to jump through to get one (bonus social media content). Like it or not its sound marketing strategy and while we might hate it to varying levels this is probably good for Omega (and the watch industry) down the line (I read somewhere that sales for the actual speedmaster are up . . . not sure how much we can attribute that to the Moonswatch, but I'll bet money that surveys of new luxury watch customers in 10 to 20 years once many age up might be telling). Are Omega and Swatch milking this too much and could they, at this pt, offer online sales and still have all the hype? Yeah, probably. They had a good thing with the original launch. They got greedy and ridiculous with Moonshine gold etc. I like the Snoopy, but this should have been offered online.

You missed the hype train.

I think a fair few will have $ or £ in their eyes. I must admit it is tempting, but although it's a nice enough watch, but not for me. It goes to prove that printing a premium name on anything really does increase the demand. But hey it's just a watch, good luck to them.

Less silly than paying thousands of dollars for obsolete technology to impress other people who buy expensive obsolete technology...

But let's ignore that, and pretend that people who like stuff we don't are dumb.

Gonna hold onto my Moonswatch alongside my Princess Diana Beanie Baby Bear. Gonna be rich one day haha.

If anyone does pay that price they need to be committed

It always cracks me up how at the end of his videos Max asserts that WC is free of judgment. Does he even see these comments?

If the Swatch Group didn't own Omega and Swatch had to ask the former owners of Omega If they wanted to make these watches I garauntee you they would never have been made. I love Omega a lot so it's hard for me to wrap my head around the idea of a quartz Omega that's actually just a Swatch let alone the price. I cant see myself ever paying over $100 for a quartz watch. I own 1 quartz watch; its a Casio World Time and I payed $25 and put a $27 Vario strap on it. Otsva fantastic watch but its not worth $100 or $300+. I wear it to work because I don't want to wear my nicer watches to work because I work around Chemicals.

I mean people can be judgey . . . But then they fist bump 😂 kind of like . . .

“I see your opinion and respect that you have the right to be wrong. Anyway, nice watches in your gallery!”

Far preferable to other forums for sure.

Maybe but since almost all used watches have dropped in price the price of the speedmaster has remained strong and the demand for them new has remained high. It’s been a massive boon to omega. And with hindsight omega would have killed for the buzz these watches raised for them. It’s worked out very well for them

Is that really because of the Moonswatch?

Is that really because of the Moonswatch?

Omega think so and I’ve been wearing speedmasters for 25 years and nobody ever mentioned my watches until the Moonswatch came out. It certainly raised the profile of the moonwatch

That's interesting.

Shrug . . . But kind of a weird coincidence that Omega sales surged not long after the initial Moonswatch line launch. I’m sure some MBA or Econ PhD will actual do a study on this at some pt . . . A lot of the media is making this connection, but haven’t seen hard proof of the correlation . . . But it seems likely.

But would you ever consider buying a quartz watch from Omega? B/c they did produce some cool ones back in the day. Or is it just the quartz that is a turn off?
