PSA. This is the only "angle" that shows how big/small a watch is on your wrist. All other pics/variations are moot. 36mm "explorer" for reference.

Edit. 18cm-7in wrist. Thanks for your time.

I agree.

Can’t tell you the number of times I’ve thought a watch is too big for me looking down at my wrist, and then I’ve seen myself in the mirror.

·

I usually do wrist down 5ft from a full length mirror

I have a 40mm (but feels massive) aquaracer homage which I thought looked a brick up close but then, as you say - a mirror shot shows that it actually looks bang on perfectly sized.

What’s your wrist size?

I felt the same way about my 40mm Pitzmann II on my 6.5” wrist. Now it’s one of my favourite watches.

Im about 18cm which is just over 7in. Even so that's exactly how my watch felt!

That Pitzmann is absolutely gorgeous. What a great green dial! Love the case shape too, not your usual sports watch design!

Thanks! It’s a bit bigger than I would have normally gone for, but it’s been eye opening in regards to size being relative and subjective. I bought it because I can’t afford a green Omega AT.

Normally I would only buy a 40mm diver because the bezel shrinks the dial appearance. But what pushed me over the edge was seeing a video of Teddy Baldassarre wearing a 40mm GS white birch.

Teddy’s wrist is the same size as mine. If he can pull it off, why can’t I? And just like that, size became relative to me.

I dunno...I think the steering wheel shot or the lap/crotch shot with the watch slightly out of focus does a pretty accurate job of displaying the size of the watch. 😂

·

Pretty sure I don't need that angle to know this is a large watch, just sayin, 🫣🤏🏻.

You would be correct on that front. Yikes.

·

And your wrist size is? Because this is the thing... even with the greatest, most illustrative, well-angled shots in the universe, without knowing someone's wrist size, there's always an intangible sense of not knowing how that watch would go on one's own hand. Especially when people are like, "Wow! Look how well this 36mm watch fits!" and it may indeed look amazing - on them, and their wrist. But without knowing what you're looking at, it's hard.

Agreed, full length mirror, so you can see yourself and your outfit.

·

omg THANK YOU! I have small wrist bones but a bit of muscle towards the bottom that makes my wrist "7 inches" even though you wouldn't think it from looking from the top. I'll try a watch on and then look in the mirror and be like "....ok no." lol

I think the vintage market has a strong influence on today’s watch size.

I think you are absolutely correct here man. The virtriol of "34mm was the norm in 1930/40/50/60" has been stated so many times..

As per my comments above, if you really want extra context

What if you dislocate your shoulder and twist your arm around the same angle?

Seems legit.

I think more people would’ve bought 40mm PRX’s if they saw this angle…not that they didn’t sell enough of them lol

100% agree. I brought my pal to buy a 40mm powermatic and I tried it on, it fitted pretty damn perfect. Although I'd rock either, even though I'm not the biggest integrated bracelet guy. That being said I'd rock a GP laureato in a heartbeat. Those are hot!

Oh yea, 99.9% of my collection is what I'd call normal. And I love me some micros.

Us enthusiasts always take things too serious, so IMO, we need to remember this is about fun, and it's okay to wear some crazy stuff, for fun. YMMV of course.

You won’t be disappointed. They even sized it from factory and it was bang on. I’d only recommend to re-tighten the screws upon arrival. What color are you going for?
