New to the traditional watch world after 6+ years of being blindfolded by smartwatches. Not anymore! I am into affordable Seikos, Tissot, Orient, St Martin etc.
I understand your point. Unfortunately the price to pay for this experience is abusive in my country. For example, something as simple as a 54 usd Casio G Shock is sold for 185 usd at my Casio AD (great service yes). If I import it directly after import taxes and shipping it ends costing me around 95 usd. So in cases like that I will sacrifice the experience.

You know what's funny. I am 50 years old and a tech nerd and after 7 years wearing smartwatches I had enough and have just come back to traditionals.
Who changed my mind?
My 17 years old son. Yes 17.
He bought a Nordgreen Philosopher some time ago with his savings. I always mocked him for not wanting an apple watch and for the size of his Nordgreen (35 mm I believe). I always thought the bigger the better and I drooled over Huaweis 48 mm smartwatches.
Then he took me to the mall to watch window shopping. I was amazed as I didn't realize you could get beautiful watches below 300 usd. My Galaxy Watch suddenly looked like a toy.
I pulled the trigger on a couple of Seikos and I am not looking back. Now I am making a wish list of what I want for this year (a diver, a homage, some Seiko 5s,).
I am curious as to what we're you expecting. To me it was just like shopping on Amazon and as long as it shipped promptly and in good condition I was fine. It did dissapoint me on modifying or canceling orders as I didn't find it as easy as Amazon.
Couldn't agree more! The sub 100 usd Seiko 5s are awesome with tons of different models and so inexpensive that they are a dangerous hobby. Just bought a SNKL23J1 and SNKE51J for 98 bucks with coupon. Even upgrading to sapphire +AR will still put you below 140 bucks for a Japan market watch.
But then their middle ground even up to 500 usd lack. Sapphires, QR coating, signed crowns, or decent bracelets, things you don't expect on their Seiko 5 line. You need to go to JDM models or high end (+700plus) to get those things that you can easily find in many Tissots under 500 usd.

Love Jomashop for my J1 Seikos fix.Great prices, all original. But keep in mind they are great market so for example the Tissots I have bought come in a generic Tissot box not the fancy OG one with all the perks and booklets etc.
