Q: How did you get into watch collecting?

In my opinion the wristwatch is the only viable piece of jewellery for a gentleman apart from his wedding ring. I'm neither into body modification nor into self-optimization, so I don't wear piercings nor smart watches.

Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?

A handwound Aristo similar to their current Sextant model. I don't know the exact reference as it was more than 40 years ago.

Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?

Not that I'm aware of. As I only got back into the hobby recently, most of my collection has no memorable moments attached to it. Having owned one of these earlier, I was fortunate enough to find one again this year. It has a monogrammed rotor and I like to wonder what "MW" may have experienced with it.

Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?

With my limited experience I'm convinced there are more qualified members of this forum if you are looking for advice.

Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?

In my collection: Seestern, my daily d(r)iver On my wishlist: Wise, Orient Star, Casio Oceanus, echo/neutra, Depancel...

Q: What is your grail watch and why?

My attainable grail would be a three watch collection of a TAG Heuer Glass Box, an Omega CK859 and a GO SeaQ. A grail in the strictest sense would be a Vianney Halter La Résonance because I love round cases with visible mechanics but without off-centre dials (unlike Armin Strom or the CW Bel Canto) and the 39mm size is my sweet spot. At a six-figure price and a production rate of 7 per year it's true unobtainium, but that's what grails are for...
