New JLC Reverso Models are too big

Unfortunately, I tested the new beautiful green Dial Monoface Reverso, but I must be honest, it was too thick and the Lug to Lug distance was too long (45.6mm). I prefer the older versions like the one in the picture (39mm); they have more elegance and aren't so rustic.

Have you tested it and do you see it the same way?

man the size on the new one is waaayy off

·

I was looking at them on an AD window the other day and the smaller models caught my eye, I was thinking “the big ones would look awful on me, sure I’d get a better fit with the smaller ones”… seconds later I discovered they’re “ladies watches” with sparkles on them.

So you must buy the Models from 2000-2010, they have a nice size and aren't so overpriced

I have the same wristsize as you. I bought the Duoface small seconds medium. I also found the large (similar size as the green) too large. Particularly for the style. The medium version was perfect. No colors though. Just black and silver.

Special order it, JLC still does that.

I have a big wrist so it seems to be just right. For me. I owned the white dial version a few years back and sold it to fund a Lange but regretted selling it. When this one came up I fell in love with the green dial.

But whatever works for you. And as always try before you buy if you can

90s and 00s JLC was peak. They actually held their reversos to the golden ratios, and had technically innovations not just in their top priced models. Now they're 250% price increased catalogs just have dial color swaps every release rotation 😂

·

I own the grande Reverso which is even a bit larger (30mm, with lug to lug of almost 48) and I love it. I think they also have a medium size which is smaller

The length is a bit much but I don’t want it narrower… and it needs to keep those gold rule proportions of approx 1,6

This is really interesting. I tried on a reverso a few years back and it was humungous on my 16cm wrist.

I recently tried the newer red reverso (same as green but different colour). I found the size much better thank what I had tried before. They’ve shrunk them down apparently. I thought it looked ok

Yeah at Watches of Switzerland. I was kinda shocked by how clumsy the fit was

·

I disagree. Depends on your wrist size. My large fits fine. It's still as elegant.

·

I agree! I’m glad you said it! 🕺💃

·

I agree. I tried one on when I was shopping for a dress watch and even the midsize one just wore so awkwardly. I suspect the non-Duoface models might wear better but this just felt like a brick on my wrist.

Thank you for the comments, but i still think for somebody who have a normal wrist size its better to buy a Reverso from millennium years, even the price is 5000€ cheaper

·

Another question, is there a big improvement in the movement comparing the actual models with them from 20 years ago?

Is this 5000€ more really worth it, i mean the vintage reversos had still a in house movement with high quality

·

100000%

And with crazy price increases it’s hard to justify 2 day power reserve . They were losing customers seems like it will only get worse for them

How is the Lange experience?

Rolex moves 😂

It really depends on your wrist. The lug to lug is a better indicator of sizing that the case width. I have a larger wrist (19cm), so I do like how my Grande 976 fits on me. But I can understand someone with less than 16cm would find the size too tall.

Moral of the story: try it on and get a feel for it. If it doesn't feel right, it's not work spending so much money on something that you won't like.

Rolex moves 😂

Pretty much, but add on price increases since 2020 that have averaged nearly double price across the current catalog.

How is the Lange experience?

In a category of its own. I have tried on APs, Pateks, owned Vacheron, and quite honestly Lange have a feel and look that is unsurpassed. Clearly this is just my opinion, but I haven’t met anyone who has worn or owned a Lange that disagrees with the above.

Would you compare it to Breguet ?

Would you compare it to Breguet ?

For me, better. Breguet I rate very highly, quite frankly like Vacheron for me. But Lange is just a small but distinct step up.

·

So it’s not like ground and sky difference right ? Because these classic Breguet watches are a thing of beauty tbh . The coin edge, golden guilloche dials … Lange is just crazy expensive now :(

·

I have the mono face burgundy version. It feels alright on my 6 inch wrist, i.e. no overhang as that's one of the key element I look at when assessing whether a watch is too big for me.
