Let’s talk hublot

Sooo, the brand has a Joffrey reputation in the watch world . But they still selling and got shit tons of money. why can’t they go on a shopping spree , purchase the right companies and invest in actually making in house , good looking movements and nicer watches . Like chopard has LUC line. They can still sell the “look at me I made some money a year ago “ ( no offense anyone. doesn’t mean every hublot owner is like that ), watches and then make some real class for more ppl that wanna spend 10-15 k which is still a lot and not 100k Opinions ?)

Well, as part of LVMH, they don't have free reign to do whatever they want. They are just one part of a huge luxury brand portfolio. They can't veer into Zenith's or Tag Heuer's lanes, for example. Their brand identity is big and loud. That's where they are going to have to stay until LVMH is restructured or they are sold or spun off.

other than crazy price tagg and unaligned screw i think some of the model are pretty nice like the classic fusion

I know they get hate but I have a friend who has one and in person it was pretty nice.

Why would they bother?

I own one Hublot, and I have 0 regret purchasing it. Most people, "most not all" hate it because some people on the internet love to hate it. That's how they earn the most hated-luxury watch 😂.

Yes, it is fairly a new brand compare to its competitors, yes, it is not cheaper. Some may say that they copied AP and Patek, yet I still disagree (Yes I have the Royal-oak and Nautilus), their designs are instantly recognisable and unique. When I first tried it I felt that there's something charming about it, if I care about what the internet think then I wouldn't have bought it, I am glad I did.

Quality-wise I had my Big Bang for over 10+ years, and guess what it still runs +/-10s per day. That's pretty impressive compare to my other watches.

Anyhow, I am not Hublot fanboy who tries to protect/praise the brand. But saying that something is bad just because a lot of people said it could miss you a very good chance to have something you might enjoy in the future. I am just one watch enthusiast who loves all watches and collects everything between Casio F-91W-1 to AP/Patek.

Yes it is expensive, got a bad reputation, will never hold any value (better buy pre-owned). Hublot is not a watch for everyone, so as other watch brands, there's no ONE watch for all (except F-91W-1, that's God-tier ). We don't have to like/love/dislike/hate everything, that's the beauty of watch collecting, at the end of the day we buy something to impress ourselves not others 😎.

·

Cuz hataz still gonna hate no matta what.

·

I love to hate them and I will fully admit that 🙂 I think they are shit, for numerous reason's I shall not bore you with.

..but like many things , if the person who owns or likes them is cool ..then no hate , as no logical man would peruse that thinking.

We like what we like , and we love to hate what we do not. Humans.

·

An Uber driver once asked if my AP was a Hublot! No comment. 🤔

·

Man I could be wrong but i thought that Hublot was part of LVMH. If I am right then that is LVMH “Ef you money, look how rich I am flex life” watch brand. I don’t hate Hublot personally, I think the more people that like that maybe the more Rolex and Omega prices drop…. Fingers crossed!

·

Doing in-house movements is not an easy thing, even through acquisitions. And it's not like Hublot watches have bad movements, they use good ones. I think the real issue is the price. Their biggest internet hater, to my knowledge, hates them because they are a brand built on flexing and celebrity endorsements, not craftsmanship or exceptional design. They are nice watches still, but for the price you can get much nicer ones IMO.

That said, if you like Hublot, then spend your money on things you like, that's the only way you should do it. I don't think they really need to change anything or could change anything to make their brand more popular. At this point even if they lowered their prices it may just "cheapen" the brand. Haters gonna hate, so what's the point, they should just keep catering to their fan base.

·

couple of issues:

  1. hublot values contemporary design over traditional design - in the largely old and conservative watch world that's going to be unpopular but its their niche - they arent going to become boring just because it makes others like them.

  2. that you see a hublot and think 'I made my money yesterday' says as much about you as it does hublot - to others it simply says 'I make my own decisions'.

  3. there are two hublots - entry level hublot and serious hublot. The criticisms people like nico make may of the price of the entry level is valid, their you are paying a serious premium for the design work. OTOH, if you look at serious hublot, the ceramic unico big bangs or square bangs they are pretty decent compared to the competition.

I agree. But what surprises me why don’t go up . They could be using movements from zenith let’s say like vc used Cartier movement in richemont.

Did u know that hublot was the first brand that slapped a rubber strap on a watch ?)

Ok ok so if tomorrow they come up with an in house movement with beautiful decoration in 39 mm case that’s not obnoxious but rather attractive, u would still hate them ?)

Let’s be real , ap has become a hublot a bit . Rainbow royal oaks and million other editions … one trick pony (

Sell it while it’s high and get a Lange or czapek sport watch 😍

·

Beautiful watch , congratulations on a purchase. Ebel is a great brand , it’s sad to see it’s lights dimming .

I agree regarding eta and service but in this expensive hobby of ours with all the recent crazy price increases it would be nice to get some hard work in return )

I briefly spoke with a guy at an outdoor concert wearing a Big Bang, I caught the sunlight glinting off of it from 500 feet away. He was extremely friendly, we complemented one another's watches, and I came away wondering why people hate Hublot so much.

·
Dumont

What Nico? The brand isn’t disliked because of some blogger my friend .

I agree they can make good stuff if they want to. My question is why aren’t they ) entry level for 15 sounds funny cmon

if you dont think 15k is entry level then hublot isn't your brand - like it or not that's their place

I said people "like" nico - ie, conservative, victorian middle class values, emphasis on craft not art type, resale driven, easy to understand don't have to think hard etc type people - you know, the type of people that call rolex "god tier".

That will not change Hublot for what it is, a pedestrian non-enthusiast new money wannabe AP. This is one issue, but then there is Jean-Claude Biver, who is a whole other issue. I pass, thank you.

High price tags and no real content I guess . By no means every hublot owner is a negative person . It’s just the internet. Things don’t make people and we should never judge ppl based on how they dressed . Things should serve people, especially when u pay so much for them.

Walked into a watch shop I'd bought 4 or 5 watches from already. They'd just taken on the Hublot line. They were really hard selling the product so much it turned me off. And even 'back then,' they seemed quite expensive. I walked out with a Tag Heuer 6000 series. That retail experience influences my opinion on Hublot to this day. I still have that Tag to this day. That was 1993.

I agree regarding Rolex 😂 u r a funny guy .

Regarding 15k, if that’s not much in ur opinion then my friend I would love to see ur collection .

2) 15k buys u a hand crafted kudoke , it buys vc , Jlc or anything that’s high class has a heritage etc .

I am not arguing with u , just sharing my thoughts

I think 15k is a ton of cash - its the very very top of what I feel comfortable spending - so Hublot isn't my brand, I cant afford them. But for people that can afford "serious" Hublot - 40 to 200k then 15k is entry level.

·

I don’t like Hublot - but I don’t hate them.

There are a myriad of other brands I’d buy before Hublot, I mean, part with a serious amount of my own cash… but, if someone gave one to me I’d be ok with that, too.

People rarely look at your watch anyway, unless they want to nick it :)

Aren't most watches really overpriced though? Like what's the difference, value-for-money wise, between a Hublot Classic Fusion and say a Rolex Datejust?

·
Dumont

U r correct they do own them but they own bulgari, zenith, tag as well . They can easily use those factories and resources .

Regarding omega and Rolex price drops no comment . Did u see how much omega raised prices in the past 5 years ? It’s just insane . They raised another 7 % in January . Anything that’s made in millions shouldn’t cost this much 😂

Thing is, and this is just a thought. Do people that buy Hublot really care about horology?

And price drops are always wishful thinking on my part. You are right about “something made in millions shouldn’t cost this much” it would be nice if they were affordable luxury so we could have a time piece to pass down. Also dont get me started on Omega 🤢🤮😭 I will buy one before they mess around and increase their price again and create their own manufactured scarcity. Idk if it’ll happen but who knows anymore.

·

I would probably still have the odd laugh about them , but ...a good watch is a good watch

I liked omega but they r thick and large . With the latest moves they been making , I am totally not interested . They made watches in 2022 and still models aren’t available atm. Such bs
