Final SOTC for the year….

There were quite a few impulsive purchases in between that worked into some quick flips, but in the end, I’m as satisfied and happy with every piece in my collection as I can remember. Carrera 74 was my final purchase of the year, and likely for quite awhile.

Panerai 1312

Tag Heuer Carrera Skipper

Omega Seamaster 300 Sedna

Amazing collection! How do you find the Lum-Tecs. I’ve considered them a few times but they always seem a bit too big.

Thank you! They have all different sizes. I find the M89 wears like my Panerai. I had been considering getting an IWC Big Pilot 43, and then Lum-Tec announced that they were relaunching the Super Combat B2 which I really liked, and it saved me a LOT of money. I’d say it wears similar to that BP43 but lighter with the Titanium and not as thick. They also have smaller models with the Combat B’s, Solar Marines, and V series.

I did some reviews if you look at the Lum-Tec playlist on my channel. YouTube.com/dougfnj

I’m also an authorized dealer for them.

Thanks mate I’ll definitely check out your channel, I’ve not had a lot of luck getting info on these.

They’ve been doing better to get more info and review units to reviewers. There’s a Lim-Tec Facebook group that the owner run that has a TON of info as well.

This is a perfect collection, a watch for every occasion and situation.

Thank you! The funny thing is it was all supposed to end with the Sub, the exit watch illusion. I got that in Feb 2020.

Then I got the Panerai to change it up and add versatility. I’ve bought, traded and sold so many to get to this point where every single one of these watches gives me so much joy when I strap them on my wrist. Overall, the collection took over 25 years to get to this core group.

·

Nice collection! I’d happily relieve you of a few of those (he chuckled, rubbing his hands together).

😏

Seriously, you’ve got some treasures there. Right now the black Omega is held in my minds-eye. Sweet.

The Seamaster with Sedna on strap was my ideal look for that watch. I upgraded the strap to the deployant and it’s been so comfortable. Considering at some point grabbing a bracelet, but it is PRICEY

What is your favourite chrono?

Such a tough question, but I’d say the Carrera 74. The watch is the most versatile out of the 3, and the Heuer02 movement is incredible. The Skipper has a similar movement, but the Chrono function is geared towards yacht racing so it counts down which is cool in its own way.

Very lovely Tudor right there!🔥🔥

·

Cool collection with a nice variety of styles and brands. I was interested in Lum-Tec, what are your thoughts on them.

Very lovely Tudor right there!🔥🔥

I always liked the Black Bay burgundy, but was never a fan of the thickness, felt off balance. When Tudor introduced it at watches and wonders with all the design changes and gave it the Jubilee, I knew I was going to own it.

Is that Carrera 74 a Ltd Ed? Would like more info on it please

Thanks! I’ve been a fan of Lum-Tec for almost 15 years. I wanted a Panerai, but it was out of my range back then. There was a Panerai clone brand similar to what Pagani does called Marine Militare that knocked off Panerai. I’ve never been a fan of that. Lum-Tec did a true homage. Took some design elements and put their own flavor with superior lume and made in America with quality Swiss and Japanese movements at reasonable prices. They’ve done it with the Bull series with design elements from B&R, some have had inspiration from Breitling, and you could see plenty of their own styles that they’ve done great work with. I posted in someone else’s comment, I’ve reviewed a few of them in my Lum-Tec playlist. YouTube.com/dougfnj

Sure! This is a collaboration from CronotempVs Collectors. It’s inspired by the Heuer Carrera 1153BN “yachting” from 1974, and only 74 were produced. The original had a cushion style case and blue dial. They were initially considering blue, apparently during the design there was a miscommunication and the dark anthracite dial with the pebble finish was the result which works so well.

CronotempVs announced it in June, took deposits and sold out quick. They released it last month and a number of people bailed. They opened up a waiting list, I know myself and 2 friends purchased and we all got them quick. It still hasn’t been officially announced on Tag’s website, and I think CronotempVs still may have more available. Here’s the original version:

Fantastic collection. What do you think of the Panerai? I was in Rome a couple months ago and walked by a Panerai shop. They looked really handsome in the window. They appealed to me as they’re just a little bit different. how do you feel it stacks up next to those other beautiful and iconic watches you have collected?

Thank you very much! It’s right at the top of the list for me. It’s one of the most versatile watches of the bunch. I love the strap change system, no spring bars, and so many straps out there that could change the look. The size is ideal. I initially went in thinking 42mm and walked out with the 44mm. They call it the big watch that wears small, and that’s accurate. Every part of my collection has watches that are so unique from 1 to the next. The crown guard and sandwich dial is what attracted me to it years ago. I would definitely encourage you to pop into the store and try one on.

Love that skipper really stands out for the rest of them!
