New Orange Dial Promaster!

I am generally not a fan of orange dials. I had a Seiko Orange Monster (one of the later models), but I just never really clicked with it. However, here is an orange dial I quite like. Almost a sunset dial. Citizen released a few other color options as well, but this was the one that stood out to me.

Citizen is taking the fight to Seiko for the budget mechanical space as well. The Fugu line has some cool new models, and they come with sapphire crystals.

Interestingly, I believe Citizen actually outsells Seiko globally, it's only in the weird world of the watch community that Citizen is second best to Seiko.

It certainly isn't second best to Seiko to me! Seiko has nothing that can beat the Promaster line in its price range. You get much more for your money with Citizen, especially after Seiko made the upmarket move, at least in my opinion. I recommend the Promaster Diver as a first true diver to new collectors all the time.

The Eco-drive versions of Fugu are good value for money apart from having mineral crystal.

The automatic versions of Fugu have more nice dials and sapphire crystals but the Miyota 8 series movement is just not worth at that price, needs a movement upgrade in those models. Could do much better.

What in particular makes the 8000 series not worth the price? The 4R series is similar, and priced similarly in Seiko watches.

Its a decent movement but the Miyota 8 series movement seconds hand sttutering issue is quite horrible and the rotor noise is really loud even while on the wrist. I have bought and returned two Timex Marlin because of the seconds hand issues.

The 4R in comparable is better and more refined compared to a 8 series Miyota. If you want a automatic Citizen, rather spend little more get a 9 series movement which is a better option or stick with eco drive rather than a 8 series movement.

I'm 100% a sucker for orange dials!

I'm with you 100% on the 9000 series, I have a couple of watches with 9015s, and they have been just as good as my ETA and Sellita movements.

Oh no. An orange-dial Promaster? Do I really need another Promaster?

This is cool, though I like the save the ocean one a touch more.
