Pleased as Punch!

My RangeMaster just arrived from Long Island, 2228 miles away, into my home…and onto my willing wrist.

Image

My draw is 0799 of 1000…of which I am curiously-pleased.

Image

Oh Lordy how I personally think this gilded movement works! It’s an elegant oasis nestled safely in the confines of a brushed, monochrome landscape the field watch genre produces.

Image

Sitting next to my beloved Bertucci aluminum brushed Golden Field (to demonstrate a temporal Zeitgeist comparison) I find the RangeMaster not more nor less cluttered…and truthfully-earnest in telling its own story.

Image

The RangeMaster maintains a thin but oxymoronically robust profile…accentuated by its all brushed case motif.

Image

Yes…I concur with others — the supplied strap (seemingly age-treated for field-style veracity) struggles to keep up with the rest of the watch…and garishly pales in quality to my Bertucci’s stitched masterpiece.

All this aside…I find great favor in my acquisition, admire the watch’s design, quality, attention to detail…and generously-smooth application of all its elements. I applaud the synergy needed from the Creators to bring me a watch worthy of applaud from my most thankful soul.

Now I’m off to the gym with this beauty!

Congratulations on your new watch! I ordered mine in the first two minutes and got 876/1000. I don't think they are shipping in ascending order. Probably just pulling out of the box which is fine with me. On the wrist, this is a sweet watch.

·

Congrats! Enjoy it!

·

Looks great, although personally I would prefer it without the 24 hour markers. I know that's a field watch thing, but the dial would look lovely without them 👍

·

It exudes excellent visual depth and tactile fortitude while on the wrist. A really solid bugger for its 37mm diameter.

I can appreciate that.

I just got mine today too. Aside from the strap, which is almost shockingly crude when compared to the rest of the watch, I'm really enjoying it. I don't find the dial too busy, I like the overall balance and proportions (I actually like a bit of busyness on a dial). So far this one is running really well too (I got No. 501)

Mine is running +5/sec/day average of three positions with great amplitude and beat error. Nothing to complain about and nothing to mess with.

That is so great! I totally agree on this alleged ‘busyness’. Next to my Bertucci it is no more.

It’s pretty similar to many other well liked field watches…

My 226 arrived today. I’m liking the design, doesn’t feel too busy to me. I like how the inner ring font is different than the outer dial and I like the red tipped seconds hand. I don’t even mind the canvas strap - which is stiff out of the box but might soften up. Fast delivery and great service, too.

Great review - congrats on your latest watch purchase! I think it’s also great that TGV and Marc will donate $15k from this release to charity 🤙❤️

·

So cool!! Nice grab 😎 i debated it hard just like the first release but decided not to pull the trigger. Maybe next release with the rumored GMT version 👀 that case back is incredible too love that they did that reminds me of the seagulls back. Anyways congrats stay well🙏

Love the seconds hand as well. My strap has already form-fitted.

Marc has said on a couple of videos now that they randomised the boxes.

It's a nice watch, and excellent value. I'm not sold on the design, but that's just a matter of my (strange) taste - I do wish I hadnt seen this pic just after a pic of a Tudor Ranger - I can't unsee the hour hand!!), but gratz on a nice watch!!

Very kind, sir.

I hope I can be as happy with my next purchase as you are with this one! It looks great on you 👌

And can I just say how lovely your writing is!

Everyone else: "The movement looks nice."

@DariusII :"It’s an elegant oasis nestled safely in the confines of a brushed, monochrome landscape the field watch genre produces."

It's like reading poetry!

I’m deliriously-humbled by your kind words. Cheers and then some!

I took a long look at the website...It seems to be a pretty terrific value. It is just to small for my tastes..But enjoy ...

·

I think this watch is a confused mess so it's not for me BUT the fact that a lot of Crunchers are very excited to be receiving it and wearing it does warm my heart as an enthusiast. Enjoy in good health!

·

It has sold out.

·

Would have liked to have picked one up, but they sold out super fast!

$320,000 that quick! Well played sir!

·

Beautiful. I received mine today as well (350 out of 1000) and I concur about the strap. I love the rough military feel of it, but suspect that I will replace it with a brown or green leather strap when I tire of it. The watch however really fills my need for a distinct and original field watch. It's my smallest watch to date (7" wrist here) but I think many forget how small men's watches were in the 40's through the 60's when men like Clark Gable and Steve McQueen made them famous. I don't like my watches all looking the same.

I agree — it’s a great-looking appropriately-sized field watch. Strap-wise I’m liking it more and more. The strap has a burly construction and feel to it that I think complements the watch’s ‘grace under pressure’.

·

Agree with you on the strap. It is objectively the one letdown of this otherwise excellent watch. However for me it just wears too large on 2-piece straps (I blame the far-apart lug holes) and I already have a few other pieces living exclusively on NATO. Sadly already looking to sell my 363, wish you enjoy yours!

Look how big it looks despite its 37mm size on paper lol.
