I love AVI-8 watches. I own the Spitfire Lock Chronograph and it's one of my favorites. As an afficionado of WWII military history, particularly the Battle of Britain, I'm a big fan of the look of the dials. Some don't do it for me, but many are unique and beautiful and the quality is excellent
Timex watches are terrific starter pieces and the company has a storied and distinctly American history. Good choice!
I have never "needed" a moon phase complication, and would never attempt navigating with one, but I love them. Right now, Longines has a beautiful watch with one that I have my eye on.
Given that the magnets in guitar amps mess with mechanical movements, I suspect he would wear a Casio.
