And they said it wouldn’t last a year…

I’ve owned my gaudy-galore Forsining for a year. Even though it only cost as much as a Sizzler Steak and Malibu Chicken for two, it’s still ticking strong and keeps as consistent time as my other automatics.

Image

I was told early-on the malnourished movement would dry up and fail. I was told springs would break and cogs fall apart. I was warned the rotor would cease to turn.

Image

But every sunrise this last year, my Forsining $47.17 watch has continued to tick without a hitch…while exuding its starkly-ornate charm.

Image

Oh yes I will admit…this watch is not for everybody. Some wrists may recoil, while others may begin to suffer malnutrition from lack of bank-busting luxury.

Image

To me, and others who have admired my gilded companion over the year, this Chinese fortune cookie has been a good dose of Paregoric for the guts of my senses…

Image

and a liberal spread of Tiger Balm to sooth and condition my vulnerable hide.

May the naysayers recede back into their cocoons…for this watch (in its first year) still proudly screams its cheap and cheerful shrill.

What watch do you really enjoy despite a few ramblings of ire from others? Show it to us!

I thought of you while writing this 😂

This wouldn’t look out of place in Odin’s throne room. 🔨

It's got the lowly 6R31 movement. Weirdly, it's been keeping time about as well as my spring drive watches!!!

·

Great write up, I have wondered how these bad boys hold up! Here’s to another year or Gaudy Greatness 🍻

Cool AF!

True that!

I think I need one of these, I still don't have a pimp watch and this is only 1/10th the price of my other choice, the Vostok Kremlevskie. For once I know I won't need both!

I must say that King Seiko is so warmly-enveloped in classic design, that its ‘utilitarian’ movement is secondary. Your King Seiko is a fine example of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts.

Very kind my fellow admirer of capable quirkiness!

Indeed! All I’m missing while wearing it is a fox stole.

Thanks! True that one never knows what gem he may find with these watches.

Does this have legitimate water resistance or did you just keep it away from the slightest excess humidity? I'm not normally one to worry about such things, but miraculous internal condensation led to the demise of the one cheap Chinese auto I had.

·

I have three Forsining watches on the way (different than yours), two of which were purchased to review. Glad that you like yours! 👍

·

That’s mad but I like it haha

Very nice!

I’ve never submerged it; but it has been in the weather…including a few days out in the yard with surprise rainstorms on bare arms. It was also tortured by the vibrations of my mower and trimmer.

Fantastic!

Wow! Haha! I love it and I hate it. For $47.17 I'd probably buy it and wear it! Nice.

Yeah, It was a good buy. It’s actually quite lovely to look at in person.

·

Wear it in health, friend.

Still.... that could have been the last thing that Lot's wife saw when she turned around and looked at Sodom and Gomorrah for the last time, then turned into a pillar of salt.

Indeed. Back in those days, you had to get your salt by evaporating sea water. I'd have kept her around for the seasoning.

Still, the level of detail they give those watches is impressive

Hahahaha

·

Liking that watch.

Enjoy that bad boy!

Cheers!

Nice little watch you got there... even if it breaks, or cant be fixed, its nothing to cry about... just buy a new one! For me, that would be apple watch.. its got all the complications and faces i could design or imagine. And get new one for the price if a rolex service, if needed..
