I bought a watch online and don’t like it in person 😞

Lucky for you, it's a Rolex! They sell like hot cakes. Find a decent dealer and sell it to them, or sell it through Chrono24/Ebay. Then go to a store and check out some watches of the same price in person, and you will know which one is for you. Take your time until you find the right one for you, and if you want to save money, avoid buying new pieces from brands that lose value.

·

Sorry for you. What don't you like about it?

Size looks great. (but pictures are always different)
Condition great
Colors great
and i love the explorer 3,6,9 on the OP.

Size is great at 36 (tiny wrists) condition is also great but unfortunately this is the dominos edition which I thought I wouldn’t mind as I got it for a good deal. The dominos logo on the bracelet completely spoils the elegance of this piece. I do love the explorer dial but actually in this colour it lacks a bit of character under most lighting situations

I've been a huge fan of 36mm ( 36 - 39mm = 💯 )

·

This is my main problem with the internet.

If it is this one pictured , first thing is well done on getting a Rolex at all. And Im sure you can sell it at a profit and get something more suitable to your liking.

I think it's a lovely piece, and I don't really like many Rolex's.

·

As above, Rolex, you’re fine. It will be able to be sold.

What is more important I feel is that you understand what you don’t like and take it onboard so you don’t repeat it with another watch. Obvious rule is to try it on before you buy, however this isn’t always possible for reasons we are all aware of.

What do you have in mind as a replacement, has this helped narrow your search?

·

It is a fine looking watch, but I understand. I’ve had a number of disappointments from online purchases where the watch is great, but just not something I like on my wrist. Monotone sliver/white watches can be tough. I often think they need some small pop of color or maybe a leather band to give some contrast and interest. The Rolex should resell easily, good luck with your next choice.

also you say this is the Dominos edition - it’s a collectible and the bracelet logo is the one of the defining features. This is a very expensive “mistake”.

Thanks! I been sitting on Chrono for a few weeks looking, internet is the only place to get an okay deal in regards to price. I’m not a fan of the internet either

I’m looking for a 36mm watch preferably, so maybe a datejust? Fluted bezel on an oyster bracelet or another OP but with the grey baton dial or a red/white grape variant. Any thoughts?

You’re 100% right. I still like the watch completely just doesn’t satisfy me on my wrist. I should have waited as originally my plan was to buy the grey baton dial but when this popped up for a steal I couldn’t say no. I guess I’ve learned my lesson

Yes, I was under the impression that the link would be removable so I can wear it without as although I collect watches. This is definitely not my kind of piece. hopefully as I got a good deal I can give it to a true collector for a good deal and then everyone is happy

If you like the dominos logo on the dial, Analog Shift is selling an AirKing today. Maybe sell them your old one?

That's awful! Feel free to ship it to me 😅 in all seriousness, buying online can be a total crapshoot. Very hard to tell what will work for you.

Im thinking maybe Cartier tank and BB58 blue instead?

Just basing this off your comments but can't you buy a new bracelet/different strap if your biggest complaint is the bracelet?

I can indeed but I really enjoy the oyster bracelet in its raw form. I’m shopping around for some straps now anyway, probably going to list this for sale and try some different straps jn the meantime. any suggestions?

It depends on what you want, and if you want to spend the same amount you will get for that OP (I'm guessing 7K more or less?).

If it was me, for 7K I would check (in person) these brands:

Jaeger LeCoultre - Master Control series and Reverso.

Zenith - El Primero (38mm models).

Cartier - Tank. I don't like the Santos.

Omega - Speedy and Seamaster.

Grand Seiko - Several models.

Blancpain - Bathyscaphe.

Tudor - Pelagos.

IWC - Spitfire.

Nomos - Lambda in steel (sold out and hard to find) and Zurich Worldtimer.

Glashutte Original - Several models.

Breitling - Datora (salmon dial).

And pre-owned Breguet (as a pure dress watch, for that price are normally 34mm).

But the list is pretty much endless...

The hunt is always fun! Keep us updated!

Some really nice choices there I will have a look. I have really small wrists so I am restricted tbh and will not go above 40mm

Thanks for taking the time to reply so in depth btw

That's a very expensive oops. Envy is what your going to find on this forum as long as its authentic. A Rolex collectable is hard to dislike and will take about an hour to sell.

Of course! It's always fun to talk about options for a certain budget 😉

Is it not possible to order a bracelet from a Rolex AD? 😅 Can't suggest any yet, not enough experience!

·

Seems like a lot of work tbh. I’m going to sell and explore my options probably

Hello again… I genuinely don’t know what to say to this. Due diligence maybe? If you collect then you would have known, so maybe this is some new type of flex I’m unaware of (the apathetic flex). Good luck finding a new home for it, and a replacement for yourself.

·

This happened to me with a neo-vintage Rolex a few years back. I ended up selling it a year later for the same price. I don’t regret it now — but it was a little pain to sell it; it was my first time selling a watch. Like others said, you’ll get your money back.

Strong choice, another staple that you can’t really go wrong with.

Just my own personal opinion but:

  • Fluted bezel, jubilee bracelet
  • Smooth bezel, oyster bracelet

I find the combinations a little off as one is more subtle, the other is more flash.

[Just my opinion not here to start a 🔥]

·

No I completely understand your opinion, I just think the polished centre links of the date just compliment the fluted bezel
