Yellowing skeleton casioak; mod recommendations

Hey all,

I’ve had this Casioak for a little over a year now, but it looks like its been in my possession for 10+. Yellowing started within a few months and this is the current state. As beautiful and iconic as the ghost resin on G-shocks are, I can’t recommend it. Stick with the solid color resins.

On the other hand, this also means mod time 😎 as the module is still salvageable.

Has anyone modded their Casioak? If so, what kit did you get, what should I look out for, and where did you buy the kit from?  🙏

I forget the thread that one of the crunchers modded the colors of their clear straps it was pretty cool…do a little search here i forget the member though unfortunately …

Well have you tried something beyond soap and water to address the yellowing? I'm pretty sure it can be alleviated to some degree. Start with white vinegar and progress to the end of the line, bleach.

But yeah, transparent or translucent anything never seems as robust as opaque.

I knew it was going to yellow eventually, just did not expect it to be so soon(literally noticed slight yellowing a month in). I would try to de-yellow it, but for the effort to, and the fact that it might yellow again by next month, I might as well buy a new one.

And doing a custom mod seems like it'd be more fun 😀.

I think I'm doing a bad search. I'm getting a lot of AP casio mods, which is always an option I guess.

I believe a hydrogen peroxide solution along with a UV light can really bring that clear look back to life. I would of course look into it substantially before soaking your watch in something like that. Maybe you could remove the module if needed?  I believe “retro brightening” is what you will want to Google.

If you're willing, you can dye it with Rit dye. I did it for a non clear G Shock, came out great!
