Affordable SOTC

Just wanted to share my affordable watch collection. Last year I felt like I chased after a lot of watches but this year I’m planning on just adding one and maybe selling off a few.

Looking to add:

Christopher Ward Sealander GMT

  • I have wanted the white dial longest time but never pulled the trigger on it. Planning on picking it up later on this year, hopefully around October.

Thinking of selling:

Seiko 5 GMT SSK019

  • Received this in a trade for a SARB065. I like it but I don’t think I wear it enough to justify keeping it. Plus it makes sense to replace this GMT with another.

Casio World Time

  • One of my earliest watches but one I don’t wear at all anymore. Might be one I giveaway to a friend or family instead of selling

Cronos & Pagani

  • I wanted to give homages a try this year. The Omega Speedmaster and Rolex Explorer 1 are two of my favorite luxury watches. However I probably won’t own them until much later in life. Instead of buying an alternative I wanted to see if I’d enjoy the homages. These may or not make it out of 2024 though.

What would you keep/sell?

Very nice collection my friend. Keep them all unless you really want to condense your collection I would find people that haven’t started there collection yet but has interest in starting. Create more watch addic… I mean enthusiasts 😉

Thank you! Yeah honestly when I put everything together I got kind of overwhelmed and had an impulse to consolidate, but I really do enjoy them all

Can fully relate to your feeling that you need to consolidate. I think so as well for me. However, I wouldn’t even know what to sell at the moment. It’s hard to let them go, even if it would be the reasonable thing to do.

a solid collection!

If I were you, I wouldn't sell any of them but I'd add more colourful watches to the collection :)

Don't sell unless you really need the money. They aren't eating anything or costing you anything else to own right now, and the depreciation is huge.

I also used to love my Skmei "Royale" (I bought 2 in fact) which homages your Casio AE-1200 World Time, but I don't wear mine anymore either.

Thank you. You helped me feel better about my obsessive collecting 😄

Honesty I’m really liking the citizen promaster ny0120-52x! Might be one to pick up after the CW

Then hold off until you really ready to down size what’s the rush ya know? Just try to stop adding anything until you know how to move forward

Nice collection, I have thought about reducing my collection many times but when I try to sell them I get offered so little that it doesn’t seem worth it to sell them.

PS. The Christopher Ward GMT is on my list too.

Hey Raphael,

This is an amazing collection. I like how your collection is anchored by value watches like Casios, mid-tiers like Seikos, Hamilton and Tissot and even a more luxury piece with the Omega. That’s a vintage seamaster right? Is it quartz by any chance?

I would keep them all, the real point of selling is to recoup some of your purchase price but you run the risk of seller’s regret and I’d suspect every piece you’ve bought you bought for a reason so why sell?
