Is jewellery cool or is it "trying too hard"?

So we all know jewellery and watches are pretty and shiny. But is anything beyond a tool watch "trying too hard" - and therefore uncool?

๐Ÿค”

I just found this really nice key ring that fits my finger well. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I'm not sure if it's cool on the thumb. It's not uncommon in England where I spent most of my life. I'm also not a fan of metal rings because they can cause serious injuries if they get caught on something. So I probably won't wear it much.ย

It was in the box of a flashlight I was gifted.

It's cool if you think it's cool, wear whatever you like and enjoy.

If you like jewelry, rock it. If you don't like jewelry, don't wear it.ย

Every one of us has different tastes in clothing, watches, jewelry, etc., so you'll never get a definitive answer to your question here.ย

I wore a black rubber o-ring around one finger for a while till it got lost. I'm fine with that, although I do feel that men need to be very conservative with jewelry. One ring per hand is the general rule.

I am not opposed to a jewelry watch though, as that is honest. Gems and the like aren't my cup of tea but whatever. The ridiculousness that is a modern luxury/tool watch (oxymoron alert!) is less forthright in the modern day. Not that you asked, but wearing a bracelet on the same wrist as a watch seem really, really wrong to me.

You do what you want. As long as it doesn't hurt yourself or someone else, you do you, man. You do you.

Tool watches and duller aren't trying hard enough. ย They should be reserved for wearing with your work clothes. ย A well dressed person should be accessorized with polished metal objects that reflect light or cause sparkling to make you look their direction and notice just how damn good they look. ย

Ugh, the last thing I need is even more strangers telling me how good I look.

ย I sport a 8mm tapperd gold ring on my left thumb, a vintage 5mm dia/gold on my right middle finger topped with a modern 3mm gold ring and that's more back up security to help my anxiety a bit, I understand it's more mental then anything but it works.

Watches are jewellery so given you're already here embrace it.

I really enjoyed your recent video on the subject - as usual, it made me look at things from a different perspective.

Iโ€™ve worn a watch to tell the time for almost 50 years. ย Itโ€™s only been the past several years that Iโ€™ve been able to afford good watches. ย Itโ€™s a bit disheartening for me to find out that itโ€™s been jewelry all along. ย
