Gorgeous

In a similar vein to the Hodinkee article about the ‘$75 Seiko 5 That Looks Million Bucks’, the dial on this Longines really ’knocks it out of the park’ imo. The applied trapezoid gold coloured indices reflect light at any angle and makes this 35mm watch noticeable from across a room. They’re matched in colour with the hands and the applied logo. Then there’s the fonts; ’Longines’ in capitals and it’s original heritage guise and ‘Automatic’ / ‘Conquest‘, in an italicised and cursive style. All on a slightly domed, sunray finished dial seen through the warmth of the acrylic crystal. Could I do without the date window? Maybe - but for a sub £1000 package, it never fails to amaze me.

In hand today: Longines Heritage Conquest

is this a new piece? its so beautiful, looks very vintage

The Hodinkee article I believe cited the Seiko SNXS79. I definitely agree as this piece never ceases to amaze me each time I wear it.

Yes, your Longines Heritage Conquest is indeed equally stunning. 👌

Here's an example of the slightly earlier version.

Has a special meaning for me as it came to me from a very dear friend who passed on way too young.

No - the original limited editions (non date) came out in 2014. I think the production run ones in 2016 (someone can correct me if I’m wrong).

Thanks. That article definitely caused a stir! I managed to pick up a white version of it.

The dial on yours is very nice indeed!

Lovely! And a non date version to boot too! The date on the original ones played havoc with my watch OCD! Just a little too close to the centre at 3 o’clock!

I love this watch. My taste gravitates a bit more to the black dial but the cream one you have is also very beautiful.

Image

The only reason I still don't have one is the date at the 12. Some days I love it some days I don't.

They also have that Heritage Flagship (similar name but different models), unfortunately, the cream dial is only cream on the renders, in real live is more like silver....

Anyways, amazing watch!

Yeah, thanks.

I generally go for date watches, for their practical function, but the look of these clean and balanced no-dates can't be beat.

The original limited edition ones don’t have the date - justsayin 😉. Plus they come in rose gold or gold too….

If I didn’t have this, I would happily have a Flagship….

Hehe, it caused a stir to the confirmation biased snobs, for sure. The SNXS series has a white version? 😮 I do know there is a silver dial -- SNXS73.

The ivory cream dial of your Longines is gorgeous. Seems to even have an enamel kind of finish. 👌

I think its the dauphine hands that make it look so good. An S5 would look like a GS with them. Hmmm great mod idea there. Longines always does "pretty" well. Their movements are solid and always have been. I have a 35 year old gold pocket Longines that still works. Heavy as a brick but pretty.

I might wear the Seiko for tomorrow’s weist shot.

May be the photograph, the dial on the Conquest is definitely more sunray

Seiko 5 is an incredible line, you can find not only white dials but all types of dials/colors. If you search by Seiko 5 at amazon.com you will have fun for days 😉.

But my favorite one is still this vintage here:

Seiko 5 from 70s. I think this color is familiar..... Macy's Blue? GAP's Blue? No... Theodore's Blue right? 😜

Absolutely stunning indeed. Longines Heritage Conquest is undoubtedly at the top of its category in terms of value for money.

Oh yes - the Comet. I love those. Wear it with pride.

This is why longines is winning!  What year is this from?  Always wanted to feature the conquest on the channel 👌

@Max You’re not wrong. Heritage-wise, they clean up but they’re starting to make some great modern pieces too now (Spirit, Hydroconquest, Moonphase, Dolce Vita).

Mine’s from 2016. You should definitely feature one - between the vintage, limited re-editions and the normal production runs, there’s plenty to explore in a video!

·

Very nice. It reminds me of orient bambino version 1

Cannot go wrong with Longines

The conquest heritage is amazing. It's a bit weird that Longines put them in the same name as their hydroconquest diver line.....

There're also so many vintage models to pick from.
