Do you sometimes feel like this guy?

I saw this in Time & Tide and had to chuckle with a self-deprecating laugh as I realized...I am this guy at times (as I am sure some of you would tell me from some of my posts).

I just wondered who else besides myself...and maybe @Porthole or @Aurelian ...think of themselves as this guy as we are trying to explain to some New Yawker that it is not "Yager" but "Jay Jay" LeCoultre or some other pointless matter like "deployant" versus "deployment".

So tell us are you this guy/gal?

And if so, what is it that boils your lobsters...

What boils my lobster in real life? Probably when people ask me why not just buy an Apple watch?

I get that language is a living thing, and we are picking up new words as we go along, but when we start doing things like deployment for deployant & loom for lume, I want to scream. I know it's because some people just don't know, but when I try to show them the correct term and they double down in obstinance, I lose another small part of what little faith in humanity I still have.

This graphic is me, EVERY OTHER FUCKING MINUTE I'm on this site.

Omeega.... Daniel Craig has a lot to answer for!! 😂😂

·

I’m that guy… but I’m trying my best to be not that guy lol…

·

I’m a little bit more forgiving - conversation and podcasts I can forgive slips and pronunciation (I mean, I’m a geezer from London, I pronounce everything wrong). If it’s print, however, and from a certain source that should know better…

·

Life is too short, harsh! I used to be that guy until my family quietly explained why my only 2 friends are pariahs!

If you have ever prepared properly a lobster for its adios before plunging into a cauldron of hot water, you will never boil another.

Watch enthusiasts used to be mostly outliers considered odd, out of step with society even. One wit would comment on my watch and asked if snake tasted like chicken? Actually snake tastes like snake.

·

That looks like Anger from Inside Out. I am in no position to judge technical watch terminology, though one of my pet peeves is people using the wrong word in the context of a sentence. Common F ups I see are “They’re, there, and their” and my personal favorite “know and no”. 🤬

All I can say is that it's a good job this is a written forum, because I'm pretty sure I pronounce everything wrong.

Also...

it is not "Yager" but "Jay Jay" LeCoultre

You are kidding me? Is this you trollin' so a look like a right idiot when to go in the AD and ask to try on a Jay-Jay Lecoultre?

They are pretty understanding about Jeh Jeh or Yager or the classic JLC as long as your credit card is valid.

OK - I was simplifying it a little bit to emphasize a point...it is probably closer phonetically to "Jay Ger"...but here is the guy with the French accent who can do it it's proper justice...
