One watch at the time

The red FKM rubber band from DASSARI is probably going to stay on the Flightmaster for a while. I find that FKM is better tolerated when it's hot and humid, and while it's not as pliable as silicone it's also not as irritating when I sweat.

Image

It also doesn't look half as bad. The red is not as bold as the yellow of my Archer's strap but it still provides a nice balance to the overly dark black of the dial and bezel. The same dial that I find remarkably legible despite being rather small when considering the 42mm case diameter.

Image

The SNA411 Flightmaster has been with me for a while and like everyone else I also put it through a phase of NDC/MN drab olive green straps until I got tired of it and let myself try new possibilities, one of which happened to be this strap.

Image

Swapping straps is only half of the story because I also rotate my watches daily, therefore I don't know when will be the next time when I'll wear the Flightmaster and neither do I have a clear idea whether it will still be on the same red strap. It may, because I do like it, but then it also may not if I find something more interesting to try.

Image

I forgot to twist the bezel a bit to get it slightly out of alignment for taking this wrist shot. I know that its a cruel thing to do to viewers with OCD but I'm a terrible person and I can't stop myself.

Hi Kevin O鈥楲eary 馃憢馃徎

Wouldn鈥檛 have thought you鈥檙e on WatchCrunch.

(Nice watch BTW)

Nice! FKM is really nice.

With some watches going loose in the summer can be really comfy and airy. Even though it's a fashion crime according to some people.

Would look great on yellow!

Also maybe try a diving strap for extra breathability. I'm gonna get one of these on Amazon.

I don't really care about other people's opinions, therefore they can take their ideas about fashion crimes outside and go fly a kite.

I wanted a yellow FKM but I could not find what I wanted, which was a plain smooth FKM strap without taper in 21mm, nothing that I found online fitted these criteria.

Thank you for the watch appreciation but I must confess that I don't get the O'Leary reference.

Check some videos of him and I guess in 99% of them he will mention that he bought a watch because of the dial and that the AD is outfitting his watch with a red strap.

He only wears red straps on his watches and if a watch doesn't come on one he requests it from the manufacturer (or doesn't buy/wear it).

Ah yeah I'm having the same issue with 23mm.

But I'm just getting 24mm and removing half a millimeter from each side. It's barely noticable and if you make it a tight fit then it's even less than half a millimeter because most straps are a tiny bit undersized anyways.

With the soft material you might even just be able to push it in without modification. I've done that with nato with a 2 millimeter difference.

I'll post pics when I do it with the orange one.

Ah OK, I see. Nothing wrong with red straps or buying watches because of their dials.

We don't speak about NATO in this house.

By the way be careful not to tighten the pushers much. They can get permanently stuck on this watch.

I ended up selling mine at a big discount because mine did that.

I noticed the stiffening but a drop of silicon grease solved it pretty much on the spot.

Yeah and why is Turkey even a part of NATO? Makes no sense.

It's completely off topic but it makes sense once you look at their border with Russia, their control over the Bosporus straight, and that before the current regime they were more aligned with the West and its culture to the point where they had a chance to be accepted into the EU.

From a strategic POV a NATO membership makes a lot of sense even if their chances for an EU membership are now none to slim.

Love the Flighty! Yours looks fab on the red strap! 馃憤

Something like this? Not sure if its to your taste in yellow.

Hey Claude,

Kevin O'Leary only wears red straps on Shark Tank and mostly on all the watches in his watch collection. I believe it is now written in his contract that he needs to wear red straps only on Shark Tank. I saw an interview recently where he does wear different colors occasionally (when off the air), but still mostly red straps.

I recently got into changing straps and I love it.

Funny, I just ordered that one for my Spinnaker! Good thing, it's real rubber, not silicone!馃憤

Looks great on the red straps! This Flightmaster is fire 馃敟!

You know, a nice deep blue rubber strap would work with that...

Nice pairing, I think a red rubber strap would work well also on my Nighthawk Blue Angels 馃槑

And yellow too, but I'm always scared about getting yellow straps online, the exact shade of colour is not easy to guess from online pics. I'm looking for yellow with a small bit of orange.

Catskinner

Ah OK, I see. Nothing wrong with red straps or buying watches because of their dials.

It isn't wrong. It's just the Kevin O'Leary reference and the red straps are his "trademark" 馃し馃徎鈥嶁檪锔

I didn't think about this color, might be worth a try.

Just be aware that it's a bit on the thicker side of the scale.

What I was looking for was a FKM version of this one, which is great but not pleasant to wear during the summer due to being made from Silicone:

Image

I found something similar in FKM but it I decided that it was too thick and that I didn't like the raised center because I preferred the plain flat look.

Image

Unfortunately I could not find one that was both 21mm, yellow, flat and FKM - which is why I settled on the red.

I find that if I use 21mm spring bars, that I can make any 22mm straps work with my 21mm lug width watches. Sometimes it is pretty fidgety to get it on there but so far 100 percent success.
