In winters unbeatable: in summers unbearable. (but not anymore)

Square G-Shocks are awesome, period.

Image

They are also saddled with a standard resin strap, aka plastic fantastic, that excels at collecting sweat and grime and rubbing it persistently into the skin of your wrist. I'm one of the lucky ones who don't develop rashes or skin allergies, but still these straps never contributed much toward a pleasant summer experience. To be blunt, the standard G-Shock strap is a crime against humanity.

Also, they will eventually disintegrate. The square G-Shocks are nearly indestructible, but apparently their straps have a limited shelf life on your wrist.

Which is why the combi-bracelet is a must have accessory. It's everything that the standard dreadful strap isn't: It's airy and flexible and light enough to forget it's there at all. The ver. 1 I have is a combination of plastic and metal links that are ridiculously easy to size, and the metal clasp has a small rubber pad that will help to protect its black PVD finish from the horrors of desk scratching.

I used to refrain from wearing G-Shocks during the summer or keeping the strap very loose, letting them flop around my wrist, but no more! With the combi-bracelet I can now secure the 5610 on my wrist knowing that sweat and stickiness are no longer an issue I have to worry about.

Wow mate, I wrote a post litteraly 20 minutes ago asking for a strap replacement for G-Shock (mine is a Casioak). Where did you buy yours ? Do you think/know if they have a model that could fit ?

Thank you !

eBay has lots of sellers with metal and plastic case mods for both 5600 and Casioak models.

I bought mine from an ebay seller but I think it only fits square G-Shocks. OTOH I saw that there are plenty of third party manufacturers that sells kit on AliExpress and ebay for the Casioak.

Yeah I know but the idea was to only find straps without having to mod the case. Thanks anyway mate

I don't mind the classic straps on the Gs and I have yet to experience or see photo evidence for a strap falling apart. I have even seen "vintage" Gs with straps that seems totally fine.

However the only G I own at the moment has a bracelet:

But I will try it with a nato adapter because I fins the bracelet a bit clammy in the heat and it's a bit too big and heavy to wear loose IMO ☺️

Also that username 😱😂

Couldnt agree more. I went for the metal case and nato adapters myself. Very comfy too by comparison

I started using jays and kays adapters and nato.

Well I didn't keep any evidence but this is exactly what happened to my old AW-560B. The watch itself was fine but the strap simply fell apart. First was the keeper and then the rest of the strap followed.

I honestly love the little furry parasites. it's the name of a fictitious spaceship AI from a SciFi novel by Larry Niven. It refers to the old saying that there is more than one way to skin a cat.

Except that this won't work for me as I abhor NATO straps.

My G-Shock I‘ve had since 1989 has its original strap and is in excellent shape. One just needs to keep Casio straps clean and away from temperature extremes while storing to preserve them.

its an after market mod kit, you can find them on Amazon or AliExpress if you just search "Gshock mod". Many suppliers selling the same thing really. Mine came pre-worn haha.

I'll try the strap adapter mod first. Looks super cool though!
Is this the black metal case worn down?

AliExpress had knockoff Combi bracelets starting at around $8, no modding necessary. I don't know how they compare to the real thing, but for the price, may be worth a shot.

My G-Shock square came on a Combi bracelet, and I like it a lot. I've since upgraded to a metal case and bracelet mod, and I like it even better.

I'm looking for bracelet that will work on a metal CasiOak. The Combi bracelet for the square fits, but the end links don't fit tightly, so I don't trust it. AliExpress has metal bracelets for the CasiOak, but I'm not sure I trust that they'll fit properly.

The funny thing is I do suffer from rashes and allergies from a lot of watch straps (I’m barely able to wear metal bracelet, 90% of my collection I’ve swapped to NATO straps) but for some reason the G Shock straps never bothered me.

Thanks again for pointing out
