Having a Grand Seiko itch!

Dear fellow watch lovers and enthusiasts! I come here to as you for help, to ask for advice and to ask for your shoe number ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I believe that every once in awhile you encounter a grail watch that is not possible to be bought or even worn for a while, as other circumstances take a huge part of your life.

Right now Iโ€™m in that kind of a situation having to think and dream of a beautiful Grand Seiko. What equivalent (apart from my new 38mm Bambino) of having to spend your 5 salaries you can recommend to me? ๐Ÿง

I am thinking about a watch that can make me feel like wearing a GS without the price tag of one.

Also have you seen any sapphire crystals for the new Bambino? It would be easiest to just replace the mineral and the problem of the GS would be solved.

I guess the obvious answer is the SARX0055. Either that or wait until you can afford what you want. Good luck.

One of the Seiko Presage Cocktail Time collection might scratch the itch.

Good point, however I hate watches without Sapphire. The Bambino is the only one I have without it as it was a gift from my wife.

I hear there is a cream for thatโ€ฆ

Have you considered a vintage Smiths?

I recommend saving for what you like. I firmly believe there is a "no comprimise" watch within reach for everyone. What it takes is (a lot of) patience but that only makes it better when you get there ๐Ÿ™‚

Definitely want that watch. Just wish it came in 38mm. Unfortunately, 40.5mm sans bezel just wears too big for me.

I recently bought a blue Citizen "Silver Leaf" NB1060-12L, and have had it on wrist for almost two weeks, so it's on my mind. I also own Grand Seiko. The dial is very Grand Seiko-esque, and the overall look is not so far off. The finishing of the case, hands, and markers is not up to Grand Seiko, but is excellent.

There's also the Citizen Chronomaster, aka The Citizen, which gives Grand Seiko quartz a run for it's money. Fit, finish, and design I would say is half a step down from Grand Seiko, not quite up to par but close. Their quartz movement in some ways tops Grand Seiko; its rated accuracy is higher, many are solar powered, and it has a perpetual calendar.

Iโ€™m thinking of this Citizen NB with white dial.

I can suggest you three options:

1st my favorite GS alternative, the Seiko SARW013. Review here:

Interesting that this year GS released an anniversary model that is the alternative of this one, the SBGW295.

2nd the SPB293J1 made of Arita Porcelain. IMO it pairs much better with a brown leather strap instead the bracelet.

3rd the aforementioned SARX055, review here:

3 watches on my collection are, the SARW013, the SARX055 and one GS SBGX261 and I couldnโ€™t distinguish the difference between these three in terms of finishing.
