Citizen that’s 40+ years old

Hello there fellow crunchers!

I unfortunately needed to sell my beloved Tudor as the price of new furniture was too high for our family. As you may know together with my wife we bought a new apartment and we needed to pay it totally in cash as the banks were not so fast in terms of mortgage. Long story short we are still waiting for the documents to be processed and it is 2 months after the final payment had to be made. Crazy!

So I sold my grail watch, as every penny was important. Happily we managed to pay it all in time, so I can say that it was worth it.

But what about the watch?

Well i couldn’t just stay still with one piece in my collection! You know! It’s just a small piece. No one will notice it!

The watch that you see in the photos is my new addition and boy! It’s a looker! This is a full JDM Citizen Exceed made in approximately 1974 in Japan. It is the highest quality model of this particular line with a golden HAQ movement with 7 jewels and accuracy of +-10 seconds a year. Yes! It is 50 years old and has the same accuracy as new watches! It’s crazy! It is also made from the Citizen proprietary titanium covered in Ultry High Alloy Gold. Im not good in the tech industry but from what my grandfather told me it’s one of the most durable coating made human hand. It’s 10 times better than their new Duratec. Crazy!

So my happiness is of the charts now, as probably I’m the only person in my country with this particular watch 😎

Omg that is quite stunning and a lovely addition to your now small but golden collection my friend 👍🏻

Good on you. Sorry you had to sell something you love, but you can't sit on a watch (comfortably anyways).

Good perspective, take care of the family first.

·

I love that dial material. What is it?

Stunning!!! We need more love for high quality quartz watches in the community!

I would love to see that movement 👀

·

That is an awesome looking watch! How does it fit?

Citizen and Seiko/Credor made so many incredibly distinct and stylish watches like this, and just stopped after a while. But they're so cool! Congrats on the apartment and the watch!

·

Amazing watch! Enjoy in good health

The 2 tone play elegantly with the gold only for accent and details, lovely watch. Other brands should learn for this 2 tone play. It is better If the crown is golden too, in my opinion.

·

Wow. This watch. Is so damn good looking!

You have the date wrong. This watch would be from 1984. They didn't have the thin quartz watches till the late 70s. Citizen was late to the quartz game and first came out with their first 8810 caliber in 1973, which is quite thick.

It is still a very nice 40 year old watch.

Wow, love it ❤️

Thought it was the 70s …

Ya this watch has a style very synonymous with the 80s. Around 1978 many brands started to race to see who could make the thinest quartz. It lasted to around the mid 80s with some higher end models getting thinner and thinner every year. That Citizen watch was made to complete with Seiko's lassale line.
