Ones that got away…

Well here is my two regrets on not pulling the trigger. The Grand Seiko was two years ago and I just retired and walking around a mall in Hokkaido Japan (in-laws) and had this in hand. Really beautiful and priced was beyond reasonable. But being newly out the workforce and still not settled in our new life yet I passed (haven’t run across it since). The Tudor was recently, went to Nakano broadway with the intention of buying this bad boy but looking at it… taking a walk, looking at it again and walked away. This one I might revisit so the story may change. Anyone else or am I silly?

I had the opposite experience! About a month ago, I was in Leeds (north of England) for work. I had a look in the watch shops and noticed a Tudor 1926 that was pre-owned, and a good price. A few minor scratches on the clasp, but that was all. I didn’t buy it then and there, but on the train home I re-considered. I made the shop an offer and it was couriered to me the next day! Sometimes you can’t let it get away:

I have that exact same model of 1926 and love everything about it. It’s high quality from soup to nuts without being ostentatious, looks great whether you’re dressed up or wearing jeans and a t-shirt, and keeps good time. On top of that, the bracelet is just stupidly comfortable. 10/10 from yours truly.

Ha! You don’t need to sell it to me, I bought it! 😀

I agree, it is a very comfortable wear, and it has just the right amount of bling to have some presence, without being ostentatious. I would only add micro-adjustment, if I could.

On a side note: the 1926 is a bit large for a dress watch, 41mm. One option would be Parnis's homage to the watch, which - apart from costing a fraction - is with 38mm a better size for a dress watch.

You sir, just have better will power than I.....LOL

Every day, I let the cream/champagne dial version of that GS get away. I look for it. I look at it. I don’t buy it. I only hope I can find it when I am finally in a position to make the move.

You’re right. It is a bit on the large side. I tend to wear it on occasions when I’m happy to “go large” - eg recently meeting clients at a conference. I wouldn’t wear for a proper “dress” occasion - eg a dinner or a wedding.

I’m on the larger side 7 3/4 wrist so it being big is okay for me 🤙

My Omega guy offered me a snoopy before it was released. Would’ve been in the first batch. But at the time they had no details just that the msrp would be under $10k. Not being a flipper, I passed.

Also this guy, had it in hand day of release. But I’m not an impulse shopper. Two days later…. Gone
