I have a soft spot for the Bellmatic. My father-in-law had a 1972 he bought from a peddler in Japan. He was with the Secret Service and guarding airport access to Air Force One at the time. Used the Bellmatic alarm to ensure he was always on time for round-the-clock shifts.
At dinner after my sonโs college graduation (in 2017) he said, โI didnโt get you anything so I guess Iโll give you this,โ took it off and handed it to my son.
Weโd had it serviced for my father-in-law a few years earlier and it was tough finding someone whoโd work on a Bellmatic movement as I believe it has two barrels, an extra spring to run the alarm. Itโs beat up and the bracelet is crazy worn but amazing heirloom for my son.

Great story Neil, I'd take the bracelet off and store it. Then fit a really nice leather strap and it'll last you son forever.๐๐๐๐

Good suggestion. Fortunately, my son isnโt that into wearing it, so think itโs safe for the time being. But I will consider a very nice strap for the future. Thanks!

I am coming to Oz and going to follow you around whistling an annoying tune, until you give me a watch, then I will go home happy.๐
