Hi all,
So I need help from the collective community on which watch to get.
If you aren't familiar with the below watchs they are made by REC and contain a piece of a rare X1009 spitfire, flown by legendary fighter ace pat hughes who shot down a lot of lufwafter including in the battle of Britain.
There are only 3 of those planes operational and the profits of this watch go towards restoring this aircraft making it the fourth.
Anyways the reason for the preamble is my dad was a pilot serving in the RAF and it's for his 60th birthday. He was recently just diagnosied with a stage 2a cancer and has just recovered from surgery. So it's a pretty big and well deserved present for him.
I'm going to get his rank, flight dates and nick names engraved on the glass on the back of possible
The problem is I can't work out what colour is the best one. So please vote and hopefully this will help me choose
Three colours
1.) Black, with white numerals and details on the dial. I think can go with any strap.
2.) Blue, always a sucker for a blue dial and I think it would go with red, white or blue straps.
3.) Lastly the dark grey and sumburts numerials which for some reason just grab me and I think would go well with a sunburst strap
Now over to you all, what do you think?

Is there any color he would associate with his time flying? Uniform color? Squadron colors? Plane colors?

Very good question, didn't even think of that.
He used to ware khaki when flying, and a navy officer uniform when not flying. I have no idea about squadron colours, I'll have to find out
It has to be blue/white and red engraving……..
The RAF rounded colours
What type of planes did he fly ,you could get that engraved on the back ,also which would be easier for him to read ,as eye sight starts to go as you get older
Just curious: What plane did he flew during his service?

Thank you all, for taking part. Now all the votes have been counted, I can say I have followed your collective wisdom and ordered the dark grey and sumburst one.
Let's hope he likes it 😁
