Bye Bye Santos

Some of you may have seen my post a while back on the topic of my large santos and whether I had chosen the correct size. This may sound sad but I’m sure so many of you will have felt this way. I absolutely loved this watch….there’s so much about it to like. My only real issue was the size. My initial thought was to swap out for a medium but then I went to go and try one (again) and got the same feeling, just in the other direction…it felt too small. So for now I e decided to pry ways with my beautiful TT santos and wish it well on its travels to a hopefully somewhat larger wristed compadre. I dare say I will miss this watch but if I only enjoyed it 50% of the time I wore it due to the nagging in my mind I suppose it isn’t doing it’s job as a luxury item. Anyways my santos is parting way as part of a PX deal for something that is somewhat of a grail watch to me and a true icon. Smaller in case diameter but certainly no smaller in presence. Not in hand yet and travelling the next week so will post when I collect. If anyone cares enough to guess pls do ✌🏼

I get it Ash. When you know you know. If it’s not brining you total satisfaction then you got to let it go. I think it fits on your wrist marvelously but I am not the one who wil be enjoying it so I got to back you on this one. I hope it finds a wrist that being butterfly’s to the owner. I’m going to guess Cartier Tank for the new watch.

Love it

I love mine but yes anyone with a sub 7” wrist will battle with the visuality of it being too large. I’m a person that it takes a long time for me to bond with a watch. I’ve recently been saying the santos is my favorite watch I own.

Oh man. Parting with a Santos is tough. It’s iconic.

But hope the new one works out for you

·

Yep...if you don't love how it fits...hard to love the watch...can't wait to see your replacement

Oh that’s a beautiful Santos. I wish you the best of luck with your endeavors. You can always get another Santos! It’s a grail of mine, so I’ll definitely be buying one. Hopefully within the next few years if things go well!

You might want to check out the Santos Dumont if you still want a Santos. It’s dressier, has smaller wrist presence, and is closer in aesthetic to the original Santos. The Small Santos Dumont is 38x27.5, whereas the Medium Cartier de Santos is 35x35, so the Small Santos Dumont might suit you. Good luck!

The heart wants what it wants! Better to let it go and buy your grail. I had the same issue when trying both the medium and large and neither felt right. So unfortunately no santos in my collection.

Yeah I love the large dumont in full rose gold as a dress watch. Whole different ball game to what I was wearing my santos for though tbh…..I have a feeling I may find myself connecting to a medium SS version in the future but we’ll see!

A medium is probably the right move! I have a different version and they are special.
