Love my Weiss. Great quality and customer service. Cameron has my vote.

I have no experience with Traska but I hear they’re also nice.

·

Weiss for me. Traska makes some fantastic watches, but Weiss is next level.

Not only that, bringing watchmaking back to US in style.

AND beautiful watches, that have lume for real world use, IMO, YMMV.

His standard issue diver is 🤌🏻👌🏻.

Traska might pull this out due to affordability.

Also because case hardening to prevent from scratches is a priority amongst a lot of folks. More power to 'em, and it is nice to have.

But just like everything burns at some temp, everything scratches at some point, especially if worn daily as intended. YMMV.

Yeah, I like that diver. That new orange dial field is pretty sweet, too!

Traska watches do look nice and they are more affordable. I get that. I can’t fault anyone if they’re drawn to them. Heck, I’ve considered getting one before.

I already have a big ding on the bezel of the Weiss. Couple of smaller scratches on the case. I like it. Gives it some character. 😆

Agreed. Weiss is doing cool stuff, and trying to keep it local to boot.

He's one of those other micros in the $1,000-ish ball park I mentioned in the Halios post.

And it's getting crowded...

Sangin Instruments is going to SW-200, SW-300, and SW-301 this year apparently.

This is tough. Weiss are American made (A big plus) but has no bracelet and does not wear as comfortable as the Traska. The Traska uses the Miyota movement while Weiss uses their calibre 2130, which is an upgraded Soprod M100, so a step up in movements. I Love my Traska, but I will have to go with Cameron Weiss on this one.

·

I hope to own a weiss someday. Hes a legit watch maker and actually producing 90% of the watch parts in his shop on some of his movements

That bonklip looks good!

This will be my next watch for sure. Who else does a US made bracelet?

To my knowledge Sēl Instruments. Their Gr 5 Ti wavelock is legit. And also costs almost as much as a Weiss.

But the dang things (watch and bracelet) are tougher than a G Shock.

Pretty sure you could use one as a climbing carabineer in a pinch.

I have held one before, impressive. And made in the AZ shop of the owner.

The bracelet they do looks killer.

Trades speaks more to me.

·

This one is really tough as both brands are great. But Weiss offers in house movements like on this JDM Surfin Safari model

There's actual hands-on watchmaking going on at Weiss, but I figured Traska's somewhat larger catalog would probably tip it over. The founder of Weiss also looks like someone I'd like to have a beer with (always go with hipster Jesus) . . . this is how I make my important decisions haha.

That bonklip looks good!

It’s not the most secure bracelet, therefore I’m selective of what watch head I put it on. It is comfy, though. Light and very adjustable. Good for hot days.

Sangin is moving to Selitta because, according to them, Seiko is no longer selling the NE-15 (6R15) to 3rd parties.....

That and Jake is wanting to expand.

He'll always be a small shop, but I believe he said he had another watchmaker on staff now.

Be interesting to see the price point. He's also hinted it's going to be very competitive.

Ehh I'm guessing $1000 or so. Possibly more.

The other issue with Sangin is they sell out within hours and they take months to restock, but they're small and inventory costs money to keep on hand.

I will say they're great for not pooh-poohing quartz like so many brands do.

·

Traska is about the best value for money in terms of fit/finish and value within the microspace. Solid, if uninspired designs, are paired with outstanding build quality, superb hardening tech, and traditional dial asthetics. Hard to go wrong with Traska on the value end of the spectrum.

That's my guess too, since costs are what they are. Still his comments on insta and other forums have been interesting.

Far as stock, yup. Not too mention popularity because of the affiliation with all the special dudes.

·

Oof, tough one.

·

I've been stalking both brands, but mostly the Traska Summiteer in the second market, Weiss is fairly narrow in offerings and for me are in the "used Tudor/Longines/Sinn" Turf which is hard for me to stomach unless I'm certain I'm going for a vintage vibe field watch. I will throw my coin to Traska, but that's not a negative for Weiss, I'm just not their target customer (even as I acknowledge that burnt orange special edition is 🔥) and Traska has to provide more distinct options.

·

My choices have lost every vote so far this tournament . I obviously have horrible taste in watches lol.

·

Seems like these are getting tougher and tougher. Two great companies here, both with solid offerings. I really dig the internal bezel of the #traska Venturer, and in round one signed up for the notification when it's available again, I'll probably buy one. The problem is that I really love what Weiss represents as a watch company, and at the end of the day I have to throw my support to a fellow Trojan!

·

Oh my god. Please people. Cannot believe folks are voting for traska over Weiss.

·

Poll closed for this matchup. Congratulations to Traska!

·

Stop the poll. This is not a good poll. These are very different watches in a different category for me.

I don't but a Weiss for the reason I buy a Traska. I think this is unfair. I have to pick Weiss, but Traska is absolutely killing it in their lane and the customers outside of people like us are very different IMHO.

HOWEVER if I had to invest in one of these companies. It would be Traska

·

Listen, I own a Traska that is my most worn watch and I'm putting another on reserve tomorrow. But there is no way that Traska wins this vote unless people are not informed or have no idea about either.

Weiss is by far an insanely better watch and the craftsmanship is way different, everything about these two companies and their watches is apples and coconuts.

Weiss wins any day. But Traska is a beast and for the money one of the best watches under $1k

Traska is going to win here because everyone knows it. But Weiss is on another level. Bad poll.
