Berneron Mirage

So what do the crunchers think of tje Mirage?

I've been following them for a while and I think it's a really cool piece, a very different kind of dress watch.

I think those are still just renders though. I hope they release some pictures of the actual thing itself soon

Beautiful movement but the dial is a hot mess.

Butterface watch.

Butterface watch.

I agree. Movement is wonderful. Dial, eh…

·

This looks expensive. Who are these guys?

If you compare the photos to the line drawings, liberal use is being made of a fisheye lens or similar to distort the case shape in the product shots and make it look more like a Cartier Crash. That in itself seems dodgy to me.

Same

I am usually a fan of more conservative designs, but I love this. I'd love to own one one day.

·

Dial.misprint. they said, "just go with it."

·

Reminds me so much of Salvador Dali, I like it.

·

To me it looks like an acid trip or something. The crush already did this and I don't know how I feel about it done again.

·

The movement is quite striking. It looks high-end, certainly not your average microbrand Sellita.

It's hard to tell from the rendering, but the movement doesn't look like it's round, it looks like it's been shaped to the case. If so, that's quite interesting. (Although potentially expensive to fix.)

·

It’s wild

·

I really enjoy the look of it! Nice big balance wheel too, which suggests things regarding hz, in my mind. The silver/white gold version is my favourite.

·

I like it....

·

Nice looks like it's melted not crashed but I can definitely see it's had some sort of accident,I'll have two please 🔥👌

As far as I know it's an in-house movement, designed by sylvain berneron.

The watch is made out of gold, meaning the case, buckle, even the spring bars, presumably the dial and of course the movement are all solid gold.

Baseplate and escapement bridge are rose gold, the bridges white gold.

The movement is shaped to fit the case. You have guilloche on the click wheel and the irregularly waved geneva stripes are, from what I know, also done via guilloche.

The movement is built to be very thin, ti the point that the gear train for hand setting has been moved to the movement side.

The shapes are also not random but derived from overlaying multiple fibonaci spirals, so it follows a harmonic pattern.

I think I read somewhere that it's priced somewhere around 30k swiss francs but I might be mistaken but it's certainly not a cheap watch.

Yuppie watch , sorry it’s just too Dink for mine ( opinion ) AND it’s not practical, it’s not a read at a glance type of watch , I love Salvador Dali like the next guy but this is more Hironamus Bosch.

The distortion of the movement in the render to make the watch look more Cartier Crash-shaped is hilarious. It's so squidged that the balance wheel practically looks like an oval. That's going to oscillate beautifully 😂

I haven't smoke anything nor eating any mushrooms but I still see a distorted reality.

Do.. do you know how perspective works?

When you look at a circle from an angle it looks oval.

And there is no distortion. Thsts what iregular shapes look like when looked at at an angle.

The balance is round like any other balance but it had curved arms a steep bevel and sits under a curved bridge in a curved case. What's your problem exactly?

I find it very telling that the manufacturer has chosen extreme disorting perspective in the render to make the design look more quirky than it actually is. Unusual verging on the misleading. That gives me "avoid like the plague" vibes.

Obviously you're free to love it and think it's perfectly normal to choose that perspective for the renders - I have no monopoly on opinions! Equally my having a different opinion from yours and disliking the watch isn't a "problem".

I read what you're saying but it feels like you're typing in a different language to me.

Is slightly from the side an "extreme distorting perspective"? I seriously don't get what you mean.

The pictures of the watch look like any other Marketing picture from any given brand to me. It's totally generic.

The only thing I can imaging is that maybe the render uses isometric projection(which would be weird, my cad uses perpective for renders by default) or a long focal length and no dof and that throws you off idk. Or maybe it's that tjose are renders in the first place and therefore look somewhat fake and uncanny...

It's OK. I dislike what they're doing with the renders and you don't. Enjoy!

The dial is my favorite part! I'd love to show this watch to a friend who was on psychedelics. I bet their reaction would be fun.
