C1 Bel Canto hands-on

I was super impressed by it when I had the prototype in… so much so that I placed an order 😂

Ordered mine just seconds after receiving the newsletter. Very excited for this one to come in!

@MegaBob

I'm also getting Armin Strom vibes from the dial (which is awesome because I love Armin Strom)!

And it turns out that they were involved... from CW Loupe Website:

Of course, CW couldn’t do this alone, and the C1 Bel Canto is also a tribute to many brilliant suppliers and partners, all noted specialists in their fields. Perhaps the most famous is Armin Strom, maker of high-end open worked watches, which contributed the platine, but Chronode (the bridges, hammer and gong) and Viquo Deco (the special wheels required) were also crucial.

I ordered one today, which will be my first Christopher Ward...  I've very excited!

Just wanted to add one quick note:

I love that there's no logo on the dial.  This watch is so distinctive that it doesn't need one (just like some of the moser watches).  Plus, I'm looking forward to future meetups where people ask me which indy brand my watch is from.  :p

One more note:

The chiming mechanism looks like a bird (the on-off switch is the beak, and the hammer is the tail feathers), and I think that's whimsical and lovely.     Again, I'm super psyched about this watch!

I just ordered one after watching your video on Worn & Wound! Looks like it is all sold out now. Looks fantastic!

·

I don't believe so as CWard typically makes it very clear when they do work with them. That said, perhaps they learned a thing or two from them.

I somehow didn't see the bird until people started talking about it today... now I can't unsee!

actually, as per @Clever_Baked perhaps they were! The press release didn't mention it

Mazel Tov! My ears tell me that it sounds like a D major with the strike, with something else I can't put my finger on.

·

I'm usually not really into these kind of "open" watches - but I really really dig and like this design. Still looks classy and not cluttered - great purchase my friend and thanks for sharing photos. My C60 Trident salutes the Bel Canto :P

·

Congrats...Sold out in few hours.. Would have been an impulse buy. 😅

·

It looks amazing, but for some reason I'm not attracted to it. Not sure why.  Something to do with the lack of utilitarian usage from the dial.  I know, I know, that's not the point.  I'm also sure that it's a good 'investment' watch as a limited edition.

·

I saw your review and I fell in love with the watch.  I can't believe they were able to do this at that price.  This will be a legendary watch going forward.

·

I would have never imaged seeing a chiming CW when I ordered a trident eight years ago. Exciting to imagine the variety and accessibility of options today and in the future!

·

Doesn't matter it is for you or not (I mean any crunchers here) It will increase the brand value a lot. Now CW goes to a different direction.

Well, Christopher Ward and Armin Strom have been collaborating since the developement of the SH21 chronometer automatic movement used in the limited edition C60 Apex dive watch from 2019.
