Should I pull the trigger

Hi all, I've been thinking about adding the ranger to my collection in the new year and just wanted to get your thoughts on it. Do any of you own it, and what are your experiences? I'm probably going to get it in March when my work bonus comes in.

Unless you’re really smitten, you might find that a Hamilton khaki field, or something similar scratches this itch.

·

I'd recommend it on the bracelet.

·

Yep you should 🤣

·

I don’t own it, but it’s a watch that’s grown on me every time I see it and try it on. It’s just a great straightforward do it all watch.

But unless you just need to, I’d try to wait a few months until Watches & Wonders in April. There’ll be a lot announced then, and one of those new pieces might suit you better. If W&W comes and goes and you still like the Ranger over anything else, you’ll know it’s the one for you.

Agree with this sentiment and approach.

As Tudor owner, I would tell you give this a pass. Other than the Tudor name, this is comes across a "plain jane" field watch with an a gorgeous nato strap. Don't pay "Tudor prices" on this when there's offering just as good (maybe better) at a much lower price (i.e. Sinn, Ball)

·

In my opinion that’s the best Tudor. Go for it!

·

I own it and love it. That being said, I did not buy it new. I do not think I would pay retail for it. If you can find a nice one at a discount, jump on it.

·

Own and love the Ranger also, and I also recommend getting it with the bracelet. I would go as far as saying it is silly not to get it on bracelet. Even if you hated it, you could sell it to bb58 folks for a premium.

·

I own one. I liked it first out of stubborn pride. Then over time I grew to genuinely appreciate its brutally simple execution.

A touch of luxury and heritage for the inner nerd, and an absolute brick shithouse construction that results in a completely worry-free experience.

I recommend it.

It was a spontaneous decision to add yet another Tudor to my collection but I liked the original, made a point of buying a new one that was rumoured to be eventually launched. Ordered one with a bracelet but have decided it is more attractive with the oem fabric strap. Tudor oem straps are expensive so I will not bother. I am 50/50 with this watch, priced well, it is a plain Jane, the 39mm case wears a bit smaller than what I prefer but a decent watch.

I’m with you. Tudor is fine, but this model I wouldn’t spend that kind of money for. For a basic plain field style watch I probably wouldn’t spend more than Hamilton level.

In the metal this watch is beautiful. Pictures just don't do it justice. That said, I've read this post thread. There are similar field watches for less. I picked up a pre-owned Longines Spirit Titaniumn for 2k on bracelet. I've sense put a leather strap on. All this said to point out a few options for less $. IMO explore the options of field watches first.

Or you could get San Martin! G8 value watch

I had issues with mine when I first bought it and had to send it back for a warranty repair, so buy it from an AD b/c you may need the warranty. Once it was fixed, the watch has been running extremely well. I've always loved the look. It's a strap monster, but I've realized I prefer it on 2-piece straps. It was a bit to tall on a NATO. I personally think it looks a bit too plain on the bracelet. I always wear mine on a strap. Currently rocking it on an Artem khaki sailcloth strap.
